Richard,

I assume you are referring to the Windows/Mac desktop app. If so, open the settings by click on the "Gear" icon in the lower right hand corner of the app. Then select the top menu option entitled "Calling". The select "RingOut" (the 5th option down) and enter your cell phone number. That will allow you to call out from your cell phone rather than a direct dial out from the application.

OK...Open settings by clicking on the 3 lines in the upper left corner of the app. Then click on "Settings" (second menu option from the bottom). Select the first option "My Mobile App Settings" and then select "VOIP Calling". You will need to disable the "VOIP Calls" and "Over 3G/4G" (and Incoming VOIP Calls if you want to use your cell phone to receive calls too). You will also want to check the "RingOut Mode" selection to make sure that your Android phone is the one you will be calling out from.

Thanks for helping out Jan, but just to be clear, the cellphone can still receive direct calls even if the mobile app is set to receive VoIP calls and 3G/4G is on.  Not sure if that is what you meant or not.

Richard, if you don't want to use minutes on your phone, then you'll need to dial out on the app, which means you'll have to have your 3G/4G enabled.   It will then use your data, but not your minutes.

I dont want to receive calls or call out using the app. only my phone. I use the app to see the missed calls. But when i click on the missed call number it dials out using the app and ring central charges me for the minutes.

Richard,

Very simply, you cannot call out from the app and not be charged minutes by RIngCentral. The phone number you or your administrator have assigned to your cell phone RingCentral app will always ring through the app.

From what you are saying now, you don't need the RingCentral Android app to see what missed calls you might have. Assuming you have email or text capabilities on your phone, simply use the "Messages & Notifications" tab in the RingCentral Portal for the extension(s) you want to be notified about. Then select the "Notifications" tab and complete the information as desired. It will notify you via email and/or text message that you missed a call and will give you the phone number in the email and/or text. You can then call out from your cell phone to that number.

However, pardon me if I don't fully understand, why would you want to have your customers or whoever else you call regarding your business/employment to have your personal cell phone number? One of the great features of RingCentral is that you can use one device and, via the mobile phone app, have it call out displaying your business phone number. It will also adhere to all the answering rules you and/or your administrator have established.

Mike...

Yes, that's what I was trying to get around but Richard's requests were a little ambiguous and I wanted to make sure I was giving him many different options.
