Call Forwarding - how to not ring simultaneous when it is a transfer

I have one phone number that rings simultaneously on multiple users for incoming calls. Is there a way to have it ring simultaneously for incoming calls but if we do an internal transfer, the call only goes to that person's extension? Right now, when we want to transfer a call to one individual, it rings the entire group.

is this a ring group or a call queue?  sounds like a ring group.

setup users...  
setup a call queue, add said users to the call queue...
assign the phone number to the call queue...

if you want to call a user specifically directly, you dial their extension.

each user should have their OWN extension.  if you're putting multiple people in ring group they will always receive every call together.  and likely simultaneously
