Call Handling and Forwarding with SoftPhone

Need a way for softphone to be part of a Call Handling and Forwarding group. We have a mix of physical phones and softphones. We need the softphone users to be able to join a Call Handling group to answer sequentially.

Hello Oyen,

You can add a softphone to the Call Handling and Forwarding of another extension. If you want a Users to be able to have both their deskphone and their softphone to ring then you need to add both devices to the call handling and forwarding rules.

For instance, Boba Fett has a deskphone and a softphone as you can see below.

 

I want Boba's softphone and deskphone to rings in my the Call Handling and Forwarding rules for Ext. 10260. I will go to Call Handling and Forward for Ext. 10260, select Forward to other user's phones, and then select both Boba's softphone and deskphone.

Thanks for this reply. However, our particular user does not have a deskphone. It is only a softphone with a headset. We want to include the Softphone in Call Handling and Forwarding for existing extensions. How is this accomplished?

This should still work as Nate described. I tried to take a look at your account, but don't see any group setup.  

Which user are you having the problem with?

Perhaps that is the issue. How do we setup a user for a softphone. This user will only use softphone and does not have a physical phone or line.

From the web portal select Users > click the User's Name > Phones & Numbers >  Add Phone > Domestic > Next > Other Phones > and select RingCentral for Desktop (price Free) > Add to Cart.

Thanks, we've done this and the softphone has been added as a new user as ext 10. However, when we click on a different user ext. 1 and select Calling Handling and Forwarding > Forward to other user's phones, the new softphone user is not listed. Instead we see a previous softphone user. How can we get the new user to appear on the list so that calls to ext 1 will be forwarded to it. I have attached a screen shot.
