4 Digital line plan - Added lines at $4.99 monthly (now marked digital for $43.99 b/c 20+ calls were made) ... Anyone else had this problem.

4 Digital line plan -- Added lines at $4.99 monthly (now marked digital for $43.99 b/c 20+ calls were made) Our most recent bill jumped to 3X the price b/c we were told that these are now limited to 20 send or received texts and/or calls. After the 20, they automatically converted these lines to be considered as digital lines at $43.99/month vs. the $4.99. We DO NOT HAVE this change in writing, were not given notice and I can't find it anywhere. According to their price plans, it says unlimited local and long distance calls and texts for all phones within our plan (we're under contract). Anyone have any experience with this or seen it happen?

Adding lines at $4.99 each are not digital lnes. Digital lines are "users" in RIngCentral parlance. As of April this year, RingCentral began sending out information regarding mobile users without digital lines using the mobile app.

Mobile users with virtual extensions who make or receive more than 10 calls on the RingCentral Mobile application without their extension being assigned a DDL will be charged the FULL DDL price for that month (resetting on a month-to-month basis) whenever they make or receive more than 10 calls on the RingCentral Mobile application.

The local lines you purchased are not substitutes for digital/user lines.

Angela,

I found the Mobile Users FAQ link I was looking for when I answered you previously. It reads:

RingCentral Mobile Users FAQ

Why are you now charging for Mobile Users without a digital line?
Mobile Users without a digital line can make and receive calls and have access to many of the same capabilities as users with digital lines. These include RingCentral Glip, RingCentral Meetings, integrations and more. With this advanced functionality, these users have begun using the product the same way they would a digital line.

Consequently, Mobile Users using the system without a digital line will now be considered part of the total licensed users and will be charged based on their accounts current cost per digital line.

Find out more about these capabilities here.

Will I be charged for using the Mobile App?
No. Mobile Users with a digital line are not affected, and can continue to use the Mobile App for no additional charge. This change only affects Mobile Only Users without a digital line.

When does this take effect?
Please refer to the email notification for the timing of this change for your account.

What will be the cost?
The cost for each Mobile User without a digital line will be the same as users who have a digital line. If you want to add digital lines for your Mobile Users at no additional cost (excluding taxes and fees), please contact your RingCentral account manager.

What are the benefits to Mobile Users of adding a digital line?
By adding a digital line, the Mobile User will get full access to RingCentrals softphone (inbound and outbound) and the ability to use a desk phone if needed. If you are interested, please contact your account manager by calling  800-591-7973.

How do I know which Mobile Users without a digital line will be billed at any given time?
System administrators can log into their RingCentral account and see this information under the billing tab. Inactive Mobile Users without a digital line during any month will not be charged. See more details here.

Angela,

The key word in your post above is "within our plan". How many users does your plan say you have? If you have two users and purchase 10 local numbers, you still only have two digital lines (DDLs). The local numbers are to assist your prospects or clients to have a "local" number to call. Usually this number will be transferred via an Advanced Calling Rule to a receptionist, a sales direct dial number, etc....not to a virtual extension with no DDL assigned to it.
