My new phone has been alerting me that RingCentral has been detected using Microphone. This happens at random hours a day, and random times. Can someone explain what this means? I have the app through my company, on my personal cell phone.
Viking..we are looking into this also. When you installed the app, did you allow all permissions? If not go to settings > apps> RingCentral> permissions and make sure they are all turned on, or maybe try reinstalling the app and allow all permission requests.
Hi Viking Thanks for sending this feedback. It is a false alarm, the RingCentral app only accesses your microphone when you are in a call, it will never access in the background. This is due to the new feature on Note 8 named App Permissions Monitor, however it sends notifications even when some apps are performing normal operations. You can see some similar feedback from here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/help/app-permission-monitor-stating-obvious-t3670685 Weve been working with our engineer to investigate this, and here are some technical details: - When the app is killed (either by system or user), today our app will keep a background service running, in order to make sure you can receive incoming calls. - When this service is activated, it will validate the permissions the app has, to make sure you can answer the call if it comes in. Probably this detection make the system treat it as access. We are working on optimizing the code to avoid this. You can try to kill the app manually or force stop it to verify this. For now, we recommend you turn it off by steps below: - Go to Settings > Lock Screen and Security > App Permissions Monitor and turn it off for RingCentral app. Please let me know if you have any other concern on this. Thank you.
