Same email when adding an extension

Account Type: U.S.

I noticed that on the new version of Ringcentral Web Service, the feature in which we can add extensions with the same contact email has been removed. This gives us a hard time because all of us using the same email address for our work as well as in setting up the extension as an administrator.

I think you are free to use the same email for all users, but you will need to uncheck the box allowing you to login with email and use your phone number + extension to login instead.

What email provider do you use?  If Google or GSuite, you can make up unique email addresses that all go the same place like Jin+101@gmail.com, Jin+102@gmail.com, etc.

The feature was possible before, but the option that you are referring to is no longer existing on the new web service update..

No, I do not. That is the feature that I have on old accounts. The feature does not exist anymore on the new accounts.

Jin is correct this feature has been removed and this will make it VERY difficult setting up a new location. Especially when you do not have an email address for each extension yet. I REALLY hope they put this feature back in the software we need to be able to use 1(ONE) email address when setting up a 50 user account!!!!!!!

I spoke to a customer service tech from Ring Central and he spoke to an engineer and he was told that you have to have a separate email for each user/extension.

This has changed apparently, but why not user the "setup by the admin" option?  Doesn't that solve the issue for you?

I think it makes sense for the user to be the one to manage their own password for security reasons.  An admin should only be able to reset a password not know all user's passwords.

No we tried this it does not fix the issue. We make the password for the users it is easier that  way and if someone gets locked out of their account our IT department gets notified and we assist them with unlocking their account. Not sure why they made this change we should be able to program our accounts the way we want. Especially when you have over 60 Ring Central accounts to manage.

Hey everyone, I was informed that this change was made due to the fact that it caused issues with the RingCentral (Glip) app. Often times duplicate profiles would get created accidentally and this would cause many issues on the back end.

I think they should add the feature back to where you can select this option to be able to use 1 email address for multiple extensions/users. We should have the option on how want our Ring Central accounts programmed not Ring Central ENGINEERS.
