This is based solely on your computer and the Headset you're using.  If it's a standard 3.5mm jack then you just plug it in and as long as you have the desktop app setup to use the default Microphone and Speaker under the Settings -> Sound page, then it should just work.  If it's not set to default, then plug it in and open this page and change the options to your headset.
If it's a Bluetooth headset, then you'll need to pair it to your computer and then it should show up in the options on the Sound page as well.

2018-10-10    @Brad Ginnini,  Many folks have a lot of trouble with Bluetooth unless they have purchased the only approved headset that has been tested.

Here is Compilation of RingCentral Community threads about using Bluetooth headsets with RingCentral - stay tuned.

@Cecile Glassy, thanks for the information.
We aren't actually using any Bluetooth headsets in our environment yet, good to know that in general they don't work.. We are using the Plantronics CS540 for all our Desktops/Laptops for the softphone.  This was hardware we already had from our Avaya deployment that we wanted to still get some life out of.
