From the x-callback-url site http://x-callback-url.com
The goal of the x-callback-url specification is to provide a standardized means for iOS developers to expose and document the methods they make available to other apps. Using x-callback-url’s source apps can launch other apps passing data and context information, and also provide parameters instructing the target app to return data and control back to the source app after executing an action. Specific supported actions will be dependent on the individual apps and will not be discussed in the specification.
x-callback-url has been adopted by high profile apps such as InstapaperGoogle Chrome and Drafts
This way I can have workflows on my phone that allow me to link phone numbers and have them open in RingCentral and place the call.

Pleeeeeeeeease!!! I hate having to type/tap in the number on my phone's keypad!

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Handling of Incoming SMS via callback URL.

Does RingCentral provide any mechanism to handle Incoming SMS via Callback URL. Many vendors provide this and have become very popular.
Example Below:

I see many request on this community which can be solved by implementing callback urls and it also opens up many more untapped possibilities. You already have email notification implemented, so basic code is already in place. Extend that for URL. There should not be any excuse for not implementing it. With a right developer, it can be done in couple of days.

Has there been any progress on this at all? I too would like to be able to code URLs in our own webapp, that when clicked initiate a call via RCmobile App (iOS).

Sorry we don't have any update or ETA on when, or if this will happen. But, to help other viewers understand, and provide more detail to our product team, it will help if you provide Use Case Scenarios.  Please reply and try to provide with the info below.

To help our Product Team understand your request and assure it gets more consideration, please include the following details in your request:
  1. Account type  (U.S., Canada, UK,  AT&T, Telus, BT)
  2. A brief description of the business
  3. A high level description of the product or feature being requested
  4. A typical use case scenario explaining how your business would use the feature
  5. Benefit of such feature
  6. Include any related case number if applicable

Without getting into too many specifics (account type and the like), the use case scenario and benefit of this feature is the the converse of the feature "Launch an external app or URL on incoming call") you already provide for the RingCentral Desktop App (see screenshot).

As developers, we would like the ability to integrate your iOS Mobile app with other iOS apps installed on the same device (B2B app, for example).

1. US
2. Law Firm
3. Ability to create links using the X-url-callback scheme that would initiate a call from the RingCentral iOS App
4. I need to dial out constant, and usually want to dial out from my "office" line, not the number on my mobile device. Right now, my workflow is to copy the number I need to dial, open the ring central app, paste it into the dial area, and click dial. With the callback scheme, I could simply click a link to accomplish those 4 steps.
5. Using my office line, instead of my cell phone line.
