Contacts: add cell numbers to Company Contacts and sync to Softphone & Smartphone App

Is there a way for me to add additional numbers to a Company Contact?  I would like to add some of our employees' personal cell phone numbers to their contact details so I can easily send them a text without having to dig through my personal contacts to find their cell number.

I agree that the Company Contacts should act as a Company Wide Directory.  It should also mirror itself on the Softphones.

I agree. We put cell phone numbers in the user details on the admin portal so they should show up on company details rather than just the ring central extension

Mobile phone numbers for users that have been included in the web interface of RingCentral are not showing up when you look up the user under company contacts in the Android RingCentral app. This does not seem to be the case when it comes to the iOS app.

Please let us know whether this issue can be rectified.

When a user enters in their mobile number in the "User Details" area of their RC Settings. I would like to option to have that displayed in the company Address book when people use the soft phone.

3. Need the ability call the Mobile Number entered into User Details in addition to the user's extension or RingCentral phone number.
4. Not everyone wants their RingCentral phone calls forwarded to their cell phones and in that scenario, callers will want to call their mobile numbers instead.  
5. Before switching to RingCentral, this was a ShoreTel phone system feature that everyone loved.  One contact record with multiple numbers listed for the caller to choose from instead of finding another Outlook contact that have user's mobile number entered.

In the user details, there are fields for Contact Phone and Mobile Phone.  However, when you populate these fields, it doesn't show in that person's contact information on the desktop or mobile app.  If that information isn't meant to be shared on the contacts, perhaps create a checkbox for that to be an option for the users?

Displaying employee cell / alternate phone numbers in the contact list would be very beneficial to our company. Please add this functionality.

2018-02-27  We have thousands of users. Please make this an Admin selectable checkbox or radio button-type OPTION as not all organizations want this info displayed by default.

Our organization has many Directors and Managers who use their cell phones attached to their RingCentral accounts, but do not want their cell phone numbers published in the Directory or viewable by regular users.

If they do not want their Cell Phone numbers out there, then just do not fill the Mobile Phone section of the User Details section.  This is NOT a mandatory field.  The application runs on the cell phone without this field filled out.  There is no loss of abilities when you do not have any information in the Mobile Phone field.

Please do not derail other peoples requests for upgrades by stating issues that have nothing to do with the upgrade requested.

Our company would like to have the Employees mobile "cell" numbers show up in the Ring Central Phone desktop application.  When you add the Employees cell phone number in the Mobile Phone field of the User Details section, the Ring Central Phone application lists the new number as Direct Number instead of Mobile number.  In the iPhone Application and the Android application the phone number is properly displayed as Mobile Number.  The only place the number is improperly labeled is the Ring Central Phone application.  

When I asked Ring Central, they stated that the program is functioning the way it is intended.  This seemed very strange to us.  Is anyone else wanting the same functionality?

2016-06-26 Expressing our preference for this option to be made a Admin Selectable CHOICE not a default is not derailing anything.   

If you read the whole message thread on this topic it is pretty clear that we are not the only ones asking for this to be OPTIONAL instead of DEFAULT.

Again, it is NOT a default.  Just leave the field empty if you do not want your Cell number listed.  90% of my organization has this field empty and there is no loss of functionality.

We have imported all staff cell numbers into our company contacts on RingCentral. 

If a staff member calls another's RingCentral number using their cell phone, RingCentral does not identify the caller, even though the cell number is in our company contacts. Can it be changed so that RingCentral can identify a caller from any of the numbers listed on their contact entry?

(We are encouraging our staff to use RingCentral, and not their cell phone native app, when they are calling each other, but there are times when it may be better to use their cell phone rather than RingCentral to call a colleague.)

My query has been merged, but isn't quite about the same thing.  My request was not about including the numbers (we've already done that) but that RingCentral would identify a call coming in from a listed cell phone number.

To illustrate: my cell phone is included in the company contact list in RingCentral.  If I call my colleague's RingCentral number from my native cell phone, he does not see the caller ID show my name, even though the cell phone number is in the contact list.

When most people have cell phones and use them as their main phone, it would be nice when looking at the phone directory (company and personal) to have this listed, versus having to dig into the contact with several more clicks to get to the cell phone number.  A solution to this could be to allow users to pick what columns they want to display versus static columns picked by someone, not in your line of work and not understanding what columns would be important to the end-user.
