Additional file formats for recorded calls

As of now, RC allows recorded phone calls to be downloaded in .mp3 format. Unfortunately, the compression this format sucks. RC needs to give serious consideration to providing alternative, lossless, formats such as flac. If you haven't heard, AI models for voice to text transcription have come a long way but using an mp3 file is terrible. Anyone looking to build a model would agree. If you don't catch up to this, I'm sure others will and a major reason why I would move to another platform.

I agree with you, that FLAC should be an option available.  For any of us wanting to use voice-to-text conversion either in RC or external, then FLAC's quality should definitely result in more accurate text results.

But we need to maintain MP3 as an option as well, if not the default, just due to its file size.  MP3 compression "quality" sucks in comparison to FLAC, but its compress "size" is still 4- 6 times smaller than FLAC, so the recordings are faster to download and play - when you have lots of messages to review through, this makes a big difference.   From a IT perspective, MP3 format is still easier to make playable on any device - FLAC is easier now, but still requires installation of an app or plug-in in most devices.
