Would love to have an AUDIBLE text message notification.  We rely on that to know when to check the phone.

+1 and I'll add that on iPhone it sure would be nice if they showed up in the notifications history like other notifications.  As it stands, I am forced to send notifications of my notifications via SMS and email to make sure I don't miss them.

I partial retract this comment as some tests I did showed it working as expected- audible notification and in notification history on my iPhone mobile app.  My problem seems to be that occasionally I do not get RC SMS notifications at all on my phone and only notice them later because I also send them to email.

@Brandon - "...occasionally I do not get RC SMS notifications at all on my phone..."  - Which phone (device)?

iPhone RC app version 8.2.0.1.35 (44.2.5) and to be clear, I mean the RC app notifications from SMS sent to my RC office number, not the SMS messages received on the native iPhone app (my personal number).  I always see them on the desktop app and get email notification (because I configured it), but sometimes people SMS my office line and I get no sound, no notification, but if I open the app and look they are there.

SMS to the Main Number get routed to the Operator.  Are you the listed Operator?

No this is just my direct line and it does work some/most of the time.  It is just occasionally as happened today I got the email notification that I had SMS as usual, but looked at my iPhone and there was no notification or sound.  After opening RC mobile app I could see the SMS was there though.

SAJ - please turn on your computer sound or take your mobile phone off silent...then you should be able to hear a notification for when a SMS comes in!

My phone is NOT on silent and computer sound is on although I am NOT speaking of computer text notifications but rather iPhone RingCentral App.

SAJ - When a text message comes into the App, and the iPhone is not on silent, we are able to get a notification sound for an inbound SMS in the RC App.  We are not able to duplicate this issue and we've tested this on different iPhones (even on my iPhone 5).
  • What kind of iPhone do you have?
  • Is your iPhone RC App up-to-date?
  • Are you logged in with your DL or Main Number + Ext?
  • Have you uninstalled/re-installed the App?
What troubleshooting have you done?

You may want to open a support case or swing by the apple store and ask them if it's an issue with the phone itself.

OK, Either this is a major bug or a major oversight.

In the sms texting in the RC iPhone App, it only make a sound to notify me of an incoming text or message when I'm not in the app or the phone is sleeping. If I'm in the app (live on message screen), or using the app in another screen (i.e. Directory etc..) the inbound message is silent.

I've reviewed your case and have done some testing. What you have described above is the normal/expected behavior.

it only make a sound to notify me of an incoming text or message when I'm not in the app or the phone is sleeping. If I'm in the app (live on message screen), or using the app in another screen (i.e. Directory etc..) the inbound message is silent

I've changed this topic to a Feature Request so that this gets consideration from our product team.

Thanks.  Total bummer as I'm in the app a lot and miss messages.  We were thinking of maybe moving to GLIP, but they have a different issue as it only vibrates in all modes.  Will not make a sound for us.

On that related note... the Glip team is making some changes to the notifications and should be out soon.  Also, it's too early for me to promise anything, specific, but as the Glip and Ringcentral products become more tightly integrated, you'll likely see more functionality.

As a workaround you know you can also push inbound SMS notifications to email and to another SMS number right?  It is not ideal and might get annoying, but should help ensure you don't miss messages, at least.

No not ideal, in todays world of computers and smartphones.  Just prefer it to work right.

excuse me, i have quite the same issue and I guess it was only me, not able to find the solution, but it seems a bug not yet fixed. Is it?
I should have the possibility to change the sound level of every message notification... I still do not find the way.

I have been on the phone with tech support for a week trying to change the alert sound for SMS messages. It can not be done (is a "feature request" at this time). I am missing alerts from patients in the middle of the night. How does one push notifications from RC into an iphone alert that can make a loud annoying sound? Thanks for your help!

Brandon, how do you send notifications of your notifications? TIA.
