I was running the RingCentral app on my Android phone (Android 4.4 and 5.0.1). Recently, for about two weeks, the battery life was noticeably reduced. I checked the battery usage monitor and the RC app was using over 20 percent of the battery each day and I had not even used the app since I last booted my phone. I had the VOIP option turned off.
When I uninstalled the RC app, my battery life doubled. Can the RingCentral Android app can be made to run more efficiently?

I have the same 20% battery usage. This changed with a recent update and is KILLING my phone ever since.
Please, RingCentral, do something about this poorly written update. The Android OS is half of the Ringcentral battery usage. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the current RC app with same results.

Don't understand why i should check "Like" when the battery draining is new. Previous version did not suck out the juice from my battery as the current version does. I am extremely tried of technology in general as nothing is ever *fixed* but we are just instructed to download the latest version.
FIX IT!

Chris,
You don't state what type of phone you are using nor the Android OS version. I'm running Android v5.1 on a Motorola Droid Turbo and I have the most recent version of the RingCentral mobile application (v7.4.3.1.21). My app is only using 6% since my last charge, which was Saturday evening. I used the app Saturday evening for about 30-minutes after the charge, I used the app Sunday for an hour long support call with a client and have used the mobile app for about one-hour this morning (Monday) as well.
I don't know why this is occurring on your phone and I'm not an engineer. Phones all act differently. Unfortunately I don't know why this is happening but I thought I would show you that it's not happening to everyone. It would appear to be a somewhat limited issue for some folks.

Jan,
Thanks for the feedback. Based on your comment, I reinstalled the RingCentral app on my LG G3 running Android 5.1.1. Over the last 5 days, it has consumed only about 12 percent of the battery. That is double what you showed above, but more tolerable than the 20 percent I was seeing. So, either RC worked on power consumption the app, or going from Android 5.0 to 5.1.1 made a difference. But I only opened the app to play one short voice mail message. So, it still needs to be improved.

I downloaded the Android app to my Samsung Note 5 two days ago and it is gobbling up my battery life! Is there a setting I can adjust so that the app doesn't run CONSTANTLY, even when I'm not using it and overnight when I don't need it?

If you go to the VoIP Calling settings and turn off the switch for "Incoming VoIP Calls" that will help a bit, but as the others have stated above it should be using a fairly modest amount of the battery.

Thank you/ I'll try that. Earlier today I found that if I go to the App Manager and Force Stop the app, I am still able to receive calls on my cell, but the RC app doesn't run in the background constantly.

By the way, what does VoIP mean and what does it do?

VoIP=Voice over I.P. RingCentral's provides a phone system is over the cloud.
Please note that if you turn off "incoming VoIP Calls", you will not receive any inbound calls to your extension on your cell phone app.

If I won't be taking calls after hours or on weekends, could I turn off "Incoming VoIP Calls" during those times?

Thank you. It seemed to work well over the weekend.
