This would be really helpful for more than just a few of RingCentral's customers. The amount of spam callers is increasing and changing numbers isn't an option when they are calling your main business number.

Just had someone that tried faxing, calling multiple user's extensions, calling our call groups looking for me by name. It was someone trying to get my information to be used in a scam. I tried blocking them on the call group and a couple of the extensions, but I for some reason have no option to block them from calling our main number and calling around to different extensions asking for me by name. To do what this feature would do, I'd have to manually block the number on our 50+ extensions which is unreasonable.

Jan,

I appreciate you trying to help, but 101 is NOT a system extension in our system. We changed our super admin extension to 199. We have an actual person that is using extension 101. The Call Logs provided by RingCentral even show us that 199 is the Super Admin extension. Again, it CAN be changed.

I am the system admin, so I know it can be changed because I am the one that changed it.

All this will do is block people calling in on the main number. It will NOT block anyone calling individual user DID phone numbers.

Robert,

Then if you changed the Super Admin extension...block them in x199! I wasn't aware that could be done (I'll check on that) but let me ask you a question... Have you tried it out yet? Have you tried blocking a separate number you can unblock again after your test and see if what I am telling you is correct.

I have been a RingCentral customer for 6 years and I am also a RingCentral Partner. Again...I guarantee that my solution works. My question again...Have you tried my solution for yourself yet?

Jan,

Again yes it will block them from calling the main number, but it will not block them calling an individual user's DID phone number because that doesn't go through the main number. Your solution will not work and I know this because I've tried it already. You don't seem to understand what I am actually saying so I'm just going to bail out of this conversation.

Robert,

Yes...I do understand what you are saying. It works for myself and all my customers. I don't know exactly what you are doing at your end or how you are setting it up. However the system was designed to block ALL company main and direct dial numbers when the numbers are blocked in the system extension.

The direct dial numbers are part of the total system, therefore they are indeed blocked when the numbers are entered into the Blocked Calls menu of the system extension!

But don't just take my word for it. See the discussion in the thread below. Kim (a former RingCentral employee) answered this just as I did.

Jan, thanks for digging into this issue, your solution blocks incoming calls to other direct numbers within the organization? Our RC portal looks different so I do not see that option
