I would like to allow the caller to bypass the hold music to leave a voicemail, is there anyway to do this?  For example, "Press 8 to leave a voicemail with John Doe."

You can setup a Message-Only Extension and have the voicemails be directed to a specific User.

Hi Kim,

I tried to do that but I need a free extension, unfortunately I don't have any free extensions to use just for voicemails.

What type of account do you have? AT&T? UK? Canada? US Office? Enterprise? etc....?

Hi Kim, I believe it's just the enterprise version.

Mikheal,

You don't need a separate phone line to set up a Message-Only extension. If you have the Office Enterprise edition, you can set up to 1,000 extensions/virtual extensions.

What hold music? Do you mean while the extension is ringing or from auto attendant or where? You can create as many free users as you want and have a second extension for everyone that only takes voicemail and doesn't ring their phone but you still need to be able to dial it from wherever the caller is which is why I ask.

Hey all, if the caller presses # while on the call they will be send straight to the voicemail for that extension. You can set up the User greeting on the extension to play a customer greeting that notifiers the callers that they can wait on the line or if they would like to leave a message simply press #. This way the caller can decide what they want to do with their call.

Also if you are transferring a call to an extension you can send the caller straight to voicemail by pressing the blind transfer button then dialing *0, then the extension number you are transferring to. This will send the caller straight to that extensions voicemail.

Hope this helps.
