Call Recording – Managing Recordings from RingCentral Desktop and Mobile Applications

Below, please review our feature request (in the format requested).
  1. We are a residential real estate appraisal and consulting firm based in Houston, Texas.  We specialize in litigation relating to the valuation of residential real estate; the majority of our work occurs on the national level from coast to coast.  We initiated service with RingCentral in July 2015. We have 13 premium users and 12 voicemail-only extensions.
  2. We heavily rely upon the Call Recording feature.  Currently, the only discernable way to retrieve recorded calls is via the My Extension portal under the Messages tab.  This has proven inconvenient.  What we need is the ability to access and manage our call recordings through both the Desktop and Mobile applications.
  3. In our business, operational mobility is crucial.  So, as on-the-go business frequently occurs, the need will arise to review or forward recordings from previous calls.  And though call recordings are accessible via a mobile web browser, it is anything but convenient to access and interact with when pressed for time.  Additionally, not all of our users are comfortable with learning two separate interfaces for managing their messages or, at the very least, having to take the extra few steps to open a web browser, input their credentials, and click on the Messages tab.
  4. The benefits are evident of a more intuitive, streamlined way to manage call recordings.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Call Recordings: Add the ability to listen on mobile app.

Please add a feature that will allow RingCentral customers to listen to all recorded calls on their account.  Currently, we can only listen to calls on a PC/Mac computer but are unable to listen to any recorded calls (except for voicemails) within the app. Even if I tried logging in to my RingCentral account through my mobile phone or tablet browser, it still will NOT allow me to listen to recorded calls. This is very inconvenient. However, other business associates of mine who are using Phone.com, are able to listen to all of their recorded calls through their online login by computer or mobile phone/tablet browser!  This feature is very important for the business owner who travels a lot as I do.  PLEASE ADD IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!

On Mobile App Guide, page 25 it says "Users can find their call recordings by clicking Messages in the menu bar , then Recordings . On - Demand Recordings are saved for 90 days. Download recordings to retain them longer" . I have done two test recordings and they show up in my online web portal under recordings but not in my app. under messages in my app I see "ALL" "Voice" "Fax" and "Text" but no tab for recordings. please advise on where to find my recordings in the app. (I am on iPhone 6 iOS 8.3)

Hi Bryan, that was a major problem for me too. Unfortunately, Ringcentral does not have a mobile solution to our problem of being able to listen to recordings through the app or a mobile browser on our smartphones/tablets. But they our aware of our problem and will hopefully figure out a way to implement that soon. No ETA yet though on when that will be.

In the meantime, one of their Rep's, Mike, gave me a  a really good work around solution. He found that the best thing we can do is download a flash supported web browser on our mobile device. On my Samsung Galaxy Note 4, I downloaded and tested the Puffin browser from the Google Play store and it worked fine. I was able to play all call recordings from the call log. You may want to search the iTunes store for this, or a different browser.

Hopefully they'll have a more permanent solution to integrate call recordings within the app in the near future.  For now, the Puffin mobile browser will do the job.

I don't know why, but cannot seem to listen to any recorded calls using the app.  I believe I checked on this 3-4 years ago and was told 'that's just the way it is', but have hopes that there's been some changes made? I can listen to all messages on the app...why not recorded calls?  For those operating their business on the road, it would certainly be helpful. Thanks

How does this help Android users? "New research released by Nielsen on Thursday shows that, in the third quarter of 2015, 52.6 percent of American smartphone owners were using a handset running Google’s Android operating system. On the other hand, 42.7 percent used smartphones running Apple’s iOS." -Huffington Post, 12/21/15

Can a feature be added somehow to the I-phone / Android app that you can listen to recorded calls on your cell hone vs. just on a computer?

Nate1,

Note my post above. RingRecording is still, according to their website, only available for iPhones. The Android version is not yet available. If you use an iPhone, this is an alternative until (or if) RingCentral allows that functionality natively in their mobile app.

Their website is http://www.ringrecording.com/

Good Afternoon,

My company has many sales reps in every region of the country, and we would also need the call recording capability through the Ring Central Meetings Mobile App.  We are just beginning to set our account up, and are realizing that only the Ring Central Meetings Desktop App allows for recording of the meetings.  This is impossible for our field team to accomplish, as they are on the road and/or making store visits, so there is not always readily available Wifi for the host to get to a desktop.  Please enable call recording for the Mobile App, as we have meetings for every region weekly, and need to disperse these recordings throughout the company.  Thank you.

There should be an ability to listen to call recordings on the mobile apps.  Please make this happen!

I would love to see the record function on the mobile app.
I would also love to have this feature as I run a taxi service and logging into website via mobile browser is tedious when needing to replay call recordings for bookings whilst on the go.

Hi, I use the app every day and I need to review my call recordings in order to check the important things while I am out of office. But retrieving recorded calls is still so arcane! I have to download it from website one by one.
Why can't I get them from the app or desktop app? It would be perfect if it could easy to search and play back the recordings.

I would like to have this feature also. Right now we work around it by using Surface tablets to listen to recordings while away from a desktop. It would be great to have a call recordings button on the HUD screen and just list the call recordings for that extension.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled How do i listen to recorded calls on phone app (Android)?.

I do not see the option for listening to auto-recorded calls (NOT voicemail) from my Android phone app - RingCentral or RC Phone. It is not an issue on the RC user login page or the RingCentral web app (and I assume Windows app), as there is a "Recordings" tab. Am I just missing it?

Now that my question has been merged into this topic, I must say that I am QUITE SHOCKED that it has been at least 3 YEARS and there is still no way to listen to call recordings on mobile - at least via an app? I say at least because you CAN listen on mobile if you load the RingCentral website via your mobile browser (Chrome for me), AND you are an admin. Then it shows your admin site just fine and you can listen all you want. I believe the only other option for logging in via mobile browser is for the RC app, which doesn't have the recording tab, so that won't work. The apps have most of the functionality of the web or desktop RC App, but stop short of the recordings tab - WHY?

It has been 3 years, and it is a no brainer that people want to be able to check recordings on mobile as well as desktop - or at least have it there if they did want to. Not sure that should have to be a voted for feature for the mobile apps when it already exists on desktop, but that is just my opinion. I figure voted feature fulfillment was for stuff that people wanted to do, but it didn't yet exist.

Did you note my posts above regarding RingRecording? Their website is http://www.ringrecording.com/ . I just double checked (my posts were from two years ago) and they still only offer it for iPhones, not Android devices.

Yes, Jan, thanks for offering the info and link. Unfortunately, and as you've already stated, it doesn't help us Android folk. Past that, RC really should have their own solution by now. It is great when there is a work around, but 3 years and nothing native from RC? It feels like the dark ages at times... Reminds me of all the stuff that iPhone couldn't do back in the days of the 3G and 3GS models, etc. that Android had available right along. Jailbreaking (ie, workaround) helped but was always a pain. Going over to Android was my solution, and I never looked back. This isn't to say that we aren't committed to RC, because we are, but it would be great if they rolled out more of the basic necessities sooner than 3 years (and counting...).

I agree with you. Funny thing is I was always an Android person from the starting days of the smart phone. I moved to iPhone 7 Plus and iOS 10 two years ago because of all the issues I was having with Android including all the junk that providers placed on Android phones. I don't use RingRecording, even though I tried it. If I record a conversation for support or legal reasons, I know it's there (I archive them in several different ways) when I need them and really don't need them while out of the office. But that's just me. The needs of others, including yourself, are vastly different.
This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled We want listening to call recordings using RingCentral Mobile App.

Call recordings can be heard on service.ringcentral.com as an admin. But it'd very handy & useful to be able to hear call recording when you goto any particular call log in the Ringcentral Mobile app. We operate an inbound calls business & we want the ability to drop in and listen to previous calls for random quality control checks. So the mobile app feature would be very handy. Hope this gets added soon...
