Caller ID (CNAM): Allow for more than 1 CNAM per account

Currently, Ring Central only allows for 1 outbound caller ID to display to external phones.  Allowing for multiple or Departmental Outbound Caller IDs would be a benefit to your customers.  We are currently in a contract for a number of lines.  We would like to share our unused phone lines with our other units that are under different business names.  However, as the system is now, this would be confusing to customers.  People no longer take the time to listen to voice mails.  They just call back the number that shows in their caller id.  If the number that shows is the main line for our department, that just makes it more difficult for the customer to reach the person who really called them.  Allowing for different outbound caller IDs would simplify this process for our customers.  In my opinion, this is merely a way to force customers to open other accounts to obtain multiple CNAMEs.

I'm not sure I understand the scope of the request, but perhaps speaking on our setup would help.  We have multiple "main lines" because we have multiple offices.  The main line into that office is setup as a VN (Virtual Number) on RC.  Instead of assigning that number to anyone specific we just create a call flow for it, e.g. ring to an extension(s).  By doing so we now have that number available as an Outbound CID option for any phone on the account.  VN's are $3-$5 more per month if I recall.  Hope this helps.

On calls to customers, people outside of your RingCentral account, only 1 #/ 1 CNAME is showing.  Trust me.  I have been over this in every piece of documentation and customer "support".  The only place different numbers or names show is on your RingCentral lines, internally.

We also have multiple divisions in our business, but still part of the same business. We would like to program our caller ID name specifically for each phone number under the Auto Receptionist. Is this possible or can it be adjusted to enable this feature please?

It would be great if you could add the multiple CNAME feature.  I have a customer who would like me to run a dedicated line for their business.  It would be easy and I'd be happy to do it ... but we would like it to say their business name on the caller ID.  Then I could use a single desk phone to manage the multiple lines ... but not true if I have to get two accounts.

It would be very helpful to allow more than one CNAM per account.
If a user is outbound calling and the ID is the main company number than using that CNAM is acceptable.

However if the user chooses to use their specific phone number I need a way to allow for that user's specific name or organization name to display.

This is becoming a major issue and may prevent my company from being able to deploy ring central.

Any feedback is appreciated.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Adding Name to the Called ID in extensions.

When I am doing call out on one of my client's, I want my name (e.g. Ryan or Andrew) be available as setting so that recipients would see my name on it, not just a mere caller ID from a company name

Account Type: US
A Brief description of the business: registered investment advisor
A high level description of the product or feature being requested: I need to ensure that my name, whenever I call out to investors/clients, will be immediately seen on their phones (e.g mobile, landline or softphone)
A typical use case scenario explaining how your business would use the feature
Benefit of such feature: Client will be able to identify such name will not be cranked and will create transparency in business transactions
Include any related case number if applicable: 06190370
Number of Users and/or Digital Lines: 4

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Call Display - user name CNAM.

  1. Account type  - CANADA
  2. A brief description of the business - PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
  3. A high level description of the product or feature being requested
I understand the current system is configured for one Call Display CNAM per company - it would be great to be able to configure individual CNAM on call display per user as an available option -
  4. A typical use case scenario explaining how your business would use the feature
each user would have their call display CNAM set as their user name
  5. Benefit of such feature
being in the professional services space, I do know our clients we work with are more attached to the individual they are working with and as such are more likely to answer when they see the name of the individual calling them
  6. Include any related case number if applicable
  7. Number of Users and/or Digital Lines

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Caller ID for Different Locations.

We have a main corporate office and several other locations. We would love to be able to have different caller ID info for each location. Are there any plans to make this change in the future? I notices that there is an option under company numbers and info to have one caller ID? However could this potentially be configured for all of our IVR menus or call queues? For example our company caller ID says Kar Agency for our corporate office. However we have different aspects of our business that do not fit under the Kar Agency umbrella. So we would like it to day something like Kar Sales based on a certain call queue or location.

Each of our branches operates under different business names (a division of the main company).  The public facing name needs to be different for each of our branches.   Currently the outgoing caller id for our extra numbers only show unknown caller or a province name.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Caller ID name for a specific user extension.

One specific User ext should be allowed to get a separate Caller ID than the rest of the company.

We have found a partial fix to this - if you turn on the multi-site feature, then we are able to setup multiple CNAM under our single account, each site gets its own CNAM and CNUM.  This isn't what most of us want, which is per user and phone number, but it does improve on multi-branches/departments/locations that require individual CNAM/CNUM identification on their lines.

Thanks for mentioning that workaround, Michel!

Right now, this feature is not on the roadmap. If that changes, I'll update this thread :)

I think that instead of looking at the deficiencies of caller ID compartmentalizations where 1 issue is a small part of the bigger picture, it should be reviewed based on ALL Caller ID / CNAM comments and requests. I vote for individual line ID, toll free number ID, Large and Small Cap letters, retaining multiple CNAM vendors to broaden the net, incoming CNAM for wireless callers, etc. look at competitors (not just SIP hosted) features and execute a wish list. In this robo world, this is a BIG DEAL.oh, and every time someone calls support about this add a feature vote.

Add another vote for caller ID name per line. Implementation in a law firm, and it would be far more ideal for the individual lawyer's name to be displayed, not the firm name.
