Hey Mary, which app are you using? The RingCentral app (the logo is an R)? or the RingCentral Phone app (logo is a phone)?

Hmmm...I tested sending a URL on both an iPhone and an Android and the receiver was able to tap on the URL. I also tested on my Windows computer to the same number with no issue. Does this happen all the time?

I'm new to using RingCentral, so I can't say it happens all the time. I tried both a bitly and tinyurl link and they both did not go through. I just tried sending the full hyperlink address and that went through fine.

Would you mind sharing the bitly link you've tried? This way I can test it as well :)

Thanks, Mary! I couldn't send the link, either. My guess is that the app doesn't recognize it as a link, which is weird :/ I'm going to flip this to an Idea so others can vote for it.

I"m having this problem, too.  We're unable to send any bit.ly links via RC Phone or RingCentral app.  Any idea when this will be resolved?  This seems more like a bug then an Idea.  Thanks.

Hey, just an update for everyone.  I opened a case with RingCentral and it was escalated to Tier 2 support.  I received a response from Michael Cada from Tier 2 and he said:

The issue that you have reported in this ticket is related to a Known Issue we currently have in our system. At this point, we will be placing this case into a PKI Hold status. PKI stands for Product Known Issue. This means that we are investigating it as a bug on our side and there is no currently available ETR when it will be resolved.

We have reproduced the issue and are working on resolving it. You will not receive much in the way of correspondence while they resolve this issue, however, you will be notified when the issue is fixed.

In the meantime, I instructed our users to stop using URL shorteners for the time being.
