Contacts: share my Personal Contacts with all users

We need a central company wide "Personal Contact List" which auto updates every day as new contacts are added. One way would be to allow the Admin or designated user the
option to share his/her Personal Contact List.
It would also be helpful to
allow any user to share their Personal Contact List with other users or groups.

I 2nd this. it is very inconvenient to have to export and import every time someone adds a new contact. having a shared contact list, shared contact option on the contact itself, or a designated shared user would be a fantastic addition.

How can this be so old and not emplimented yet? This is a no brainer, company wide contact list.. Hello? I have just entered 150 company contacts into my contact list thinking it was everybodys contact list and now I need to pay two more people to each enter in the same 150 contacts? I thought Ring Central was suppose to help us be more efficient? double tripple data entry isnt helping us, its helping Ring Central NOT make the product any better.

Agreed, everyone has their cell phone in their user details but no one can see this.  very frustrating to have to go to outlook to get that info.  Additionally, when transferring users, it would be nice to see the phone number that users will be sent to.

It is incredible that this is being ignored. This should really be a feature that we can offer to provide excellent customer service.

Please implement this sooner rather than later. How am I supposed to consistently generate help desk tickets with RingCentral's 3rd party integration with accurate company names if all my technicians have different address books? :(

In Control Panel we add the name to the contact list so why can't the provisioning platform push this to the phones? Both Polycom and Yealink have this as a standard feature, it's not complicated RC it's just XML please sort this out.

I have written and called on this many times, just to hear the long and involved method of downloading, de-duplicating and uploading contact lists. On a good day, this takes me over two hours and needs to be done weekly. This is ridiculous. I am actively pursuing an alternative phone service.

Hey Chris, how are you using the contacts and why the sync so often, Just trying to understand your process.  I have worked with my customers on speed dial lists that everyone could see and it is straight forward.

Would you mind sharing your use case?

When a customer / lead calls in, I'd like whoever took the call to save the name and relevant info into the contact list, and that info to be global within our company.  The next time (and every subsequent time) they call, I'd like that name to be displayed on the inbound call for every extension that it rings in the queue / group, and in the call logs.

Any updates on this feature? We're actually having a problem where current RingCentral users are calling in from their company cell phones (all listed in their user contact in Ring Central) and it shows on the softphone, but not on the desk phone. Thinking a mass upload of contacts will fix this - but I'll take either answer at this point.

Hello team, not sure if this is enough to get what is needed for all but it may be for some.  There are APIs that can be used on the RingCentral account and user contacts.

We had a developer create a sync via Zapier, it was expensive and provides a cross user account sync of contacts.

I can confirm our company has tried the API Approach injecting our CRM Data automatically via API to each individual User in Ring Central's personal contact list with phone numbers.

This is great so when we get a phone call it shows whos calling if we know them already.
Reach out to us if you'd like more info.

Hi,

The API feature is not available on the ENTRY or STANDARD packages.
Can you confirm that you have either PREMIUM or ULTIMATE  package please?

Cheers, GS

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Contacts: company wide.

I would like each extension to have the ability to import their personal contacts into the company contacts so no matter which one of our employees are taking a call, if the person calling has had contact with us before, they will show up on caller ID.

Example: I input every new client inquiry / first time caller into my extensions contacts. I would like to be able to do this entry once for the entire company so that client can be identified easily by whatever department of our firm is taking the call throughout the client's process of working with us.

Our office finds this feature would also be very helpful. It doesn't make sense that every employee has to spend hours putting all the same clients into his personal contact directory and no one else in the firm can benefit.

The more we start to use and sell the RingCentral product, the more we realize that trivial things, like having a Company Wide Address Book shared throughout all the extensions, are just not offered.  Worse yet, the status on this conversation reads NOT PLANNED. Are you serious?

At first, our customers are excited to use RingCentral, then they ask us for small things that anyone would logically assume is available on a system like this, LIKE SHARED CONTACTS.  And every time we have to tell them, "they're working on it", when in reality it's really NOT PLANNED.

All it takes is adding another database table...

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Sharing contacts on the mobile app.

1. Real Estate
2. I would like to be able to text my contact or one of my co-workers contact using the ring central app. Just like you can on a regular cell phone by sharing a contact saved in your phone via text message (sms)
3. After speaking with a new lead or client to share your direct contact information with them. Or a co-workers direct contact information with the new lead/ client.
4. Efficiency - not to have to type your info in every time, Professionalism- so the new lead/ client doesn't have to manual save your contact information from a text message or writing it down.  Less loss of information or incorrect information taken.

Actually, what I was referring to is much more trivial, like Jay's response above.  I just want to share contacts WITHIN the same company, let alone people outside.  Something like a Company Wide Address Book. But nooooo, why would RingCentral want to make using their product easier?  After all, they don't need people actually paying for and using their system...right?

I agree. I have been using Ring Central since 2009. I am trying to create better systems for our sales associates. Not realizing this feature was not offered, I went to work thinking I could create an address book of all of our customers (including information like customer ID, when they became a customer, the sales associate that signed the customer up, & YTD sales with the customer). I thought with this information at each representives finger tips, when customer's call in, they would think to themselves, wow this company really has their stuff together.. When I realized I could not do this, it was a real bummer. I sure hope this is something that will be added. It would have been great to offer to the sales team.

We have been using RingCentral for about 6 months and my experience is a mixture of dissapointment and frustration. One of the biggest issues for me is the lack of a centralised telephone directory. How can Ring Central be taken seriously as a replacement to a traditional PBX telephone system without this?

A workaround for this would be to create a Call Queue, and name it the contact, let's say "Joe Schmoe". Set it's Hours to be like 1am to 1:15am, and then under Call Handling, under Afterhours, set it to Unconditional Forward and enter the number of the contact, like 423-125-6745. Now all calls to that extension go to the contact's phone number, and it also shows in the Company Directory alongside your existing contacts.

Not so elegant, and they have to be done one by one, but it's something.

I think this is more so for adding a list of the company's client's numbers so that when calls are received from that number everyone within the company knows that " Joe Schmoe from Company XYZ" is calling and they can pull up his record / be more efficient.

Thanks so much for the great ideas ladies but this is for company vendors, for outbound orders. But thats a great idea for incoming calls that do not display a name, good job. So even more reason to implement such a change.. I was told that I could export the list, save it in glip files and have the others import it, but that ONLY works in the personal contacts and NOT company contacts. Oh well we'll take it, its our only option at this point.
