It is too loud and distorted. I tried adjusting the gain of the MP3 file itself and now it isn't deafening, but it is still very distorted.

Any help so my customers can hear the music I selected clearly?

Hello there are some specific settings when it comes to volume etc..

Use audacity or some other audio software to adjust

I use this for the voice recordings also, to clean them up and adjust volumes.

Hope this helps

Hey Chuck,

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I actually used Audacity to adjust the gain -20db and it still came through distorted.

Any ideas on what else to tweak?

Chris, what file format are you exporting from the Audacity to? I am using a wav file format Signed 16 bit PCM.

The reason I chose this format is when I downloaded a recording that I made from the phone to clean it up that is the format that the RC system sent me. I assumed since I am no Audio expert that I would just save in that same format. I have not tried MP3's so I can't comment on that.

Try the WAV format and let me know if that is better.

I would like one of the RC experts to chime in to let us know the best format for importing the wav and MP# formats and the volume settings for upload.

I will send a not to my contacts looking for some input.

Let me know

Thanks

Hey Chuck,

The original format for the file is MP3, so that is what I saved it as and uploaded.

Will try WAV and let you know the results.

Uploaded the .WAV file, and it does sound better...but still has some distortion.

I had to downgrade the file to 16000Hz to meet the 20MB file size max, so I don't know if that has an affect.

When I play the song back through RC's site after upload, it sounds clear.

I am using my cell phone (Galaxy Note II) to test the quality of the call. The speaker for the ear and the loudspeaker sounds with decent quality, so I don't think it is the cause.

I agree, the music on hold feature does distort when listening and I'm unable to find a fix for this.

Any suggestions?

Try changing to a WAV file. See if that makes a difference.

you could use Audacity to do this and adjust the volume while you are at it.

That may help also

Thanks

There is a bug in the software for some reason posts are duplicated on responses.

I have asked for someone to look in to it but no fix yet

Sorry

Well, I tried uploading a .WAV file, 16 bit PCM which I converted in Audacity. I get an "Unknown problem" when trying to upload it in the system. I have tried three different browsers and the problem is the same for each.

Please advise.

I noticed that my MP3 file of 3.28 MB converts to a 37+ MB WAV file. How is this even possible Chuck?

Hi all - apologies for the delay in seeing this. The optimal file format for greetings and other recorded messages is Linear PCM 8-bit 8khz mono. Anything else can cause the kind of distortion and volume problems that you're experiencing.
