Desktop App: Cannot update without login

When doing maintenance on shared workstations/laptops I check the installed version of the desktop app to ensure it is up to date. Often it is out of date (since updates come out so frequently), but in order to update it through the app I need to login. The alternative is to constantly download the latest installer and load it from the file server. This would not be a problem, were it not for the frequent release of new versions to keep up with.

Why is the app not capable of updating without logging in? This should be something accessible from the start screen and not require credentials.

  1. Account type  (U.S., Canada, UK,  AT&T, Telus, BT)
  2. A brief description of the business
    Professional services
  3. A high level description of the product or feature being requested
The ability to update the desktop app without needing to login first.
  4. A typical use case scenario explaining how your business would use the feature
  5. Benefit of such feature
It would speed up the periodic maintenance process.
  6. Include any related case number if applicable
  7. Number of Users and/or Digital Lines
