Desktop App: Microphone Volume Slider Audio Options

Currently, the Desktop version of the RC software provides you with a nice little volume slider, to adjust the volume of the call, when it comes in, or goes out:

However, after speaking with Technical Support over at Ring Central, they have told me that this slider controls:
  • Audio OUTPUT
  • Audio INPUT
The Problem:
Anytime a call comes in, or goes out of the application, RC adjusts the mic and speaker volume down to the level of the slider.  This may be fine for speakers (as who wants blown ear drums from very loud calls?).  However, this is not very good for microphones, given that most microphones will need to be set to a much higher level in order for the called person (or caller) to hear the agent.

The Resolution:
Provide two sliders:
  • Speaker
  • Microphone
The speaker one can automatically adjust the volume of the call (outbound or inbound is the what the agent hears).

The microphone one can automatically set the microphone volume to what it should be (outbound or inbound is what the caller or called person hears).

By linking the INPUT and OUTPUT in a single slider, it makes it very difficult for agents and companies who exclusively use the softphone for VOiP business operations.  The agents have to continually manage the volume of their calls, which takes away from time answering phones, and placing calls.

Has this been fixed yet? Doesn't appear so. This is a huge inconvenience.
