Is there a way to change the ring tone to differ between an incoming call going to the Call Queue and an incoming call going directly to an extension.

Thanks,

Hi Mitch, couple of factors here, What type of phone are you using first? Cisco or the Polycom

Next I think this configuration has to be programmed on the phone it self. I would change the ring tone based on the ID information of the department.

Then other calls directly to that phone will have a different ring tone.

Make sense. The reason I am asking for the phone is the process varies from Cisco to Polycom.

ok, you should be able to assign a ring tone to an inbound number. You just have to see what the number is that comes in when some one calls the department.

Then make the changes.

Makes sense?

You have may have to add caller ID digits to those calls so you could disquinsh. Of setup some forwarding so the extension is displayed as opposed to the CNAM information.

If you need some assistance, E-Mail me directly

is this an option for polycom phones?  on my poly VX, I can only change the ringtone globally.  I don't see where you set rules for different ringtones.

Hi Kris,  I'm not sure which exact model you have, but I found instructions for the VVX 400 & 410. It looks like you can do this if they are in your Company Contacts.

Updating Ringtones
To change the incoming call ringtone, select Settings
from Home view, and press Basic > Ring Type. Select the
ringtone you want.
To set a ringtone for a contact, navigate to your
Contact Directory and select the contact. Press Edit,
update the contact’s ring type, and press Save.

We have vvx310. I have calls coming into the main phone line with a 00 up front and direct calls without. Is there a way to change the ringtone for the 00 calls?

A more generalized variant of this same basic issue. ** Especially for softphone users ** We would like a way to distinguish internal (extension to extension) calls from external calls. A real bonus would be to allow very specific ringtones based on the inbound caller ID.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Distinctive personal ringtone to differentiate from call que ringtone.

We need a way to distinguish an incoming call on our person DID from a call que call . A personal ring tone would accomplish this. Is this possible?
