I don't understand why there is no way to add the recipient's name and company to a fax coversheet.  You provide the templates, however, when I use one it looks silly as only my information is filled out.  This seems like it should be a basic feature.  When can this be fixed?

It should fill out for you when you select the person from your Contacts.

Can you tell us what version of software you are using and provide more details or a screenshot as to what exactly is happening?

Hi Mike.  I just started using the service and have no contacts entered because I was only sending one-time faxes.  If the recipient is not a contact, then it seems their information cannot be included on the cover sheet?  I am logging in and using the online version, not a specific software version.

Fax cover sheets are a popular concern with our clients, and have been, going back to the days of Winfax and then with E-fax and now with cloud-based faxing.  The best solution is to have your own cover page (created in your favorite program i.e., Word, Excel, Access, etc.) and then attach it to your fax.  Meaning, your RC setting should be set to not send a cover page, then when you send a document, the first attachment should be your custom cover page, the next attachment(s) are whatever you are faxing.  This way you can put whatever information you want on your custom cover page; the name, department, document name, company logo, personalized info, instructions, etc.

What happens with vendor fax applications is, as they modify their service based on suggested features, inevitably it affects existing features and functions and then create all new concerns and complaints.  By having your own cover page, you are in 100% control of its information and format and you've created a consistent process.

Why is the a good solution???  We have to modify an outside document then save it and then attach it just to put a TO: Name in a fax cover sheet???   No thank you!  I'll use someone else's service that is built correctly.  This can't be rocket science!  It's just a text field.

Aviation, Our Product Team continues to work on these over time.  Some of the provided coversheets do have this feature. If you choose the Classic, option, you'll see the fields.   You just have to have the person in your address book so the fields propagate.  If you don't want to add them, then Danno's suggestion is the best alternative.

Awesome - but just keep it between you and me!! lol
This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Adding Recipient Info on Fax Cover Page is No longer and Option.

I downloaded the newest version of softphone and now I cannot add the fax recipient information into the cover page.  Tech support says that this is one of the downfalls of the new software upgrade.  This is a huge step backwards.  PLEASE HELP!!!

Please click the like button above to show support for bringing this back.  As Danno mentioned, they occasionally change certain things based on ideas/feature requests and it causes issues for others.  For now the best resolution is to add the recipients info in the field shown below.  When the fax cover prints out, the info shows up in the Comments field.

We have created custom cover sheets that we have our users add to their softphone client. The coversheets have the fields in them that auto-populate from the fax information screen. This KB article http://success.ringcentral.com/articles/RC_Knowledge_Article/7721 explains how to set it up with the sample doc(you map the same fields in your custom cover sheets).
