FAX ISSUES!!!! I DARE YOU TO READ!

Hello Everyone,

I have been using ring central for about 3 months now and I have been pleased with the reliability of the services. I haven’t had any outages unlike my last company that it became routine. But I do have to say for a leading VOIP company the innovation and practicality is not quite there. I have called twice about the faxes my company receives and how we receive them.

I recently had a company send me a fax asking for additional information for a client that was time sensitive. For whenever reason we did not get the fax so we asked them to resend it, upon arrival I notice my team did not getting the faxes. I on the other hand was getting like I was on my desktop app, phone app or email. I thought this might be why we didn't get it, I called customer service and they said I needed to add each person on my team email to receive my notifications. When I did so everyone was not only getting the fax notifications but all my private text messages from clients and voicemails.  When I explained this to the rep they simply said they do not have this capability and the work around was I needed to download and then forward to each person individually. WHERE IS THE PRACTICALITY IN THAT?

I am a small agency compared to most, but I can only imagine what bigger organizations are going through. The only choice I have left is to go with an Analog Telephone Adaptor (ATA) which ring central conveniently sells for $112.00 (amazon $39.50), mind you this idea was brought up by yours truly. Not only is this a waste of money as this standard feature should be included in my service but now I am wasting resources (paper and ink).

COME ON RING CNTRAL I DARE YOU TO WOW ME ONCE AGAIN!!!

I am not sure if this will help you.  We use Outlook as our mail system, I have set up a public folder to receive our faxes.  On the public folder I put a rule that anything that comes into this folder goes to the following people.  This has worked very well in our smaller offices and I will be rolling it out in my main office in the next week or so.

Or an E-Mail Distribution list will work also.  Josh, you have control on which E-mails get what items.  Fax or SMS.  You may have had to hit the advanced button when adding people in.  But I think a DL (Distribution List) with our e-mail system would be the best bet

Thanks

you could also just set up a phantom extension just for faxes set for print all and set up any notifications you want.

In that extn put everyones email that is to receive a copy .

you can setup a.log on to PC phone at any extn to program and change any settings just for that one

I'm not sure if this is what you are describing, but fax notifications are completely separate in user settings from text notifications.  In our case we are fine with the notification options being the same for them both (use same settings as voicemails) but for some users we customize them for any of the options to either use a distribution list or multiple users.

I found that a distribution list from within our email system, does not work.  Well, it did work for a while and then it stopped working.  It was really weird.  It worked for about six months and then one day it did not.  I had to change the rule to forward to individuals.

Bob’s instructions seem to be the solution you are looking for.

Take note that you only have 250 characters to add as many email addresses as you can fit. As Chuck referred to, you should also be able to use a distribution list if you would like to.
