Fire Alarm

We will like to have a feature in our desk phones integrated to our monitored alarm system. The idea is to have an extension number that when dialed confirms identity of the caller and then all desk phones in the building start ringing announcing a fire alarm. Does RingCentral have any recommendations?

I guess you could create a call group with all the desired extensions. I guess how this would work is you would create the group, assign a phone number for the group and then tell you alarm dispatch to call that number when necessary.  Does that work for you?

The purpose of this alarm system as I see it is to reduce the severity of workplace accidents by ensuring that employees live the workplace after listening this alert with a distinctive sound. Can we assign an alarm type of sound on the Polycoms for calls coming from this particular call group?

I am not sure it is a good idea to rely on a cloud based voice system for fire safety.  Your alarm system does not have bells and strobes, etc?  

Since you mentioned Polycom there are some interesting things you can do with VVX phones and multicast groups to send alerts and messages to all phones, but it would require some trickery to integrate with a fire alarm system.  I could see it as an alert system that you trigger manually and separate from the alarm system.  Again, I am not sure you want to be liable if someone is hurt and you depended on a system like this for safety of employees though..
