  1. Account type  (U.S., Canada, UK,  AT&T, Telus, BT)
US
  1. A brief description of the business
medical office
  1. A high level description of the product or feature being requested
within glip it only shows your status if you're active or not active in glip. For our office, it would be better if the status was if someone was actually using that computer or not. This way i can tell if a user is at their desk or is away from their desk. Currently, i can only tell if they have used glip within the past 15 minutes which is worthless to me.
  1. A typical use case scenario explaining how your business would use the feature
To know if someone is at their desk or not from looking at their status.
  1. Benefit of such feature
Easier communication between people in the office. This way you can tell if your message went to a person who is active on the computer or to someone who's away from their desk.
  1. Include any related case number if applicable
  2. Number of Users and/or Digital Lines

Hi Mike! Thanks for sharing this feedback!  Computer-based presence is something we're looking into..

Would you be open to chatting more on presence directly? Would love to share our future plans for presence with you and get your feedback incorporated.

If you're interested: here's my email: ted.jaffe@ringcentral.com

Thanks!
Ted

Our company would like to see this; all chat apps go by the PC activity not the App activity

Any idea if this will ever get implemented at RingCentral?

Hi Christine, don't worry we aware of this ask to have computer-based presence for the desktop apps.  We are tentatively planning development for this end of year, but may not make it out till early 2019.   Just know it's on our list of priorities - but there's alot of those right now :)

Our Development team is now working on this.  No ETA yet, but stay tuned.  Thanks for checking on this!

FYI - the Outlook and Google calendar busy presence is now available in beta - if you are interested in testing it please contact me: ted.jaffe@ringcentral.com

Not to bust your bubble Ted but it has been over a year since I asked you for this, the dark theme in the program and the nonstop flashing taskbar icon when you have an unread message. These 3 things are crucial to any chat program. I even spent the time and had a meeting with you about this as I switched my office to Glip and the lack of these features made the chat program unusable. I would have to walk to an employes desk and physically ask them to read the chat. Given the progress over the past year, i can see making the decision to leave Glip was the right choice. Anyone holding their breath for these changes i highly recommend you look for an alternative chat program as these features are a necessity in any office.

Hi Mike -

Hope you are doing well!

I'm sorry that we couldn't meet your needs in time.  The needs and priorities of our customers can vary tremendously across our different communications modalities: team chat, phone, video meetings (all of which are in one app now) and can't forget the enterprise/security/administration needs too.  We do our best to cover the various asks for all of these as quickly as we can.. some of these features are now publicly available (code snippets, @ team mentions, custom ringtones on mobile) and some of them are still in beta (e.g. calendar integration, custom status).

I hope we can earn our way back with you, as we work toward computer-based presence, dark theme, and more notification settings - all of which are planned but no ETAs yet.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.  I will continue to keep championing and pushing the computer-based presence internally and keep you all posted there.

Best always,
Ted
