Global Company Directory

I would like to suggest a feature that would allow admin to create and share a company directory to other users without them being admins.

I operate a US based service company that keeps my team in the field 90% of the time. We consistently are adding and subtracting staff members. It would be helpful if a company direct portal existed that admin can control and push to the other users or that the uses can have access to.

  1. US
  2. A small aging life care practice
  3. A company phone book of external contacts, so when a new user is added, they already have the phone numbers of frequently contacted clients and colleagues
  4. We work with a lot of caregiver agencies and physician offices; it would be helpful for new employees to have these numbers stored in their phone systems immediately.  I can import a CSV file of contacts, but it does not get updated for the whole team, they are still operating independently.  I would like to see a living company contact list that is updated for everyone if I make an update.
  5. Our employees would always have the current and correct contact info for our colleagues and clients

Hi Herrington, Speed dials could be setup globally.  They could be assigned on presence keys also.  This works great

Has anyone showed you how to do this?

No, I don't think so.  Is there a limit on these though?  When I think speed dial, I typically think 1-9 or something.  I'm talking about like 50 contacts that we communicate with on a regular basis, including family members, facilities, caregiver agencies, and physician offices.  If you think the speed dial function would fit this purpose, I'd love to set it up.

Oh, I just did a quick search and it appears this is mostly a function of desk phones, is that correct?  We operate completely off of android and iPhone apps.

That is a good thought. I am not familiar with that process but will look into it.

Thank you!

It could be done, I am assuming you have the app installed.  create users without a phone, turn off unecessary items like voice mail and hold music and put the phone number in.

RC gives you 1000 virtual extensions so 50 or so would work no problem.

I could walk you through one setup if you like

Sir,

Thank you for the note. Let me make sure I understand.

I have about 6 users. We all use the mobile apps. We do not have the desk system at this time. I would need to have those users continue to have extensions. With that, am I still able to set them up as virtual users without allowing them to be admin status or changing any of their users setting or corp settings?

Thank you in advance sir.

Haven, if you want to set up global speed dials that everyone will have access to then, you would create a virtual extension for each user that you need a speed dial for.  Then that extension will be visable through the app and you could then select to make a call.

That is what you are trying to accomplish right?

Sir,

I am wanting to add all my employees numbers in the directory for my team has contact to them. However, of my 30 employees only about 5 users will need access to it. The other employees do not use our system. Just my supervisors.

Hope that clears it up.

ok, should not matter how many people you need to access,   The numbers will be there for any Ring Central user.

So you just need to create the virtual extensions.

Thanks

Maybe I'm not looking in the right area, but to add a user without phone (just the extension) is $5/extension.  I don't want to pay $5 for every number I want to save into the directory.  Is there a way around this?

Thanks!

there is no cost for adding virtual extensions to be used as speed dials.  Depending on the number, you account manager could send you a template.  I do this all the time for my customers.

Thanks

Chuck I am interested in Speed dials. I was told you could set them up via a "modified" group. But also was told that the system only supports 100 groups. And I have close to 300 speed dials I would like to implement. Is adding virtual users something that needs doing by my rep? In my case Telus. Or as a sys super admin, can I add them? I don't see any way to do so when looking under my users list. edit: And these numbers will be available to use on both desk phone and softphone?

Hey Big Papa,

Yes you could do this but it would be one at a time.  I have worked with Ring Central support to get a template to populate  This will save tons of time.  A template could be associated to turn off the unnecessary settings like hold music, voice mail etc.

They have to be the ones to do the import on the back end.

Then these could be assigned to buttons on the phones. or Sidecars.

Or by jut dialing a extension number.

Your re seller should be able to assist you with doing this also

thanks

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled feature request form.

company contact list that can be shared so that users would see a common contacts name when receiving calls and can use this list to dial out to clients. I see an option for Corporate directory, but have no idea where to build that list.

Yes this would be great if we can also import contacts from google contacts and go able to be seen by the whole staff as a company directory.
