How do I add 'Presences' on a conference phone?

How do I add 'Presences' on a conference phone? Currently, the conference phone name is showing up on all 12 lines on the phone screen. I need to add employees but the admin portal doesn't show an option to add presence on the common area phones. Can anyone assist?

Hello Deborah,

My name is Phil Koorsen and I am one of the training specialists here at RingCentral and I hope my explanation below helps you.

If you want to use 'Presence' with a conference room phone:

You cannot use the IP5000, IP6000, IP7000, or Trio 88XX series phones.
You cannot use a 'Limited' Extension.

How many presence buttons do you need?

I recommend for 4 or less, the Polycom VVX 300 series. 10 or less, the VVX 400 series, 80 or less, the VVX 400 series with a side car.

You will need to use a 'User' extension as it will provide for presence.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the quick response. The model is Polycom VVX311. These don't show up in our User extension list but rather the Common Area Phones since they are used in our two conference rooms, not by assigned users.

Can 'presences' only be added for users with extensions?

Correct, you have to use a regular User Extension.

Before you make any changes, check in with your account rep/billing dept. to confirm the impact of converting the common phone to using a regular extension.
