RingCentral just changed their phone system this month, so I am now forced to use Ring Groups now where I used to use dummy extensions to solve this problem and I need a solution ASAP.

I have a couple users in the field that are forced to use cell phones to answer calls from our new Ring Groups that we had to setup.  You currently have an option to turn off the "Press 1 to accept call" on your extension, but not on a ring group call.  This is a HUGE problem for any mobile user, because he physically has to go to his cell phone and press 1 to answer the call.  If the user is driving (i.e. sales person) or has his hands full, he cannot use his hands free  methods on his headset or vehicle to answer the call and start talking.  This may not sound like a big deal to some, but it is against the law in Canada to touch your phone keypad while you are driving.  It is all over the radio up here and I believe the current ticket ranges from $400-1000 depending how it is being enforced and how good you are at fighting tickets.  And yes they are enforcing it up here, because you hear about it on the news all the time.  There is a big push up here for hands free driving and it is a big enough deal that my business partner has already made the comment we might have to find a new phone system that does not have this restraint.

They really need at add this feature ASAP, because their current setup forces users to break the law in Canada.  If RingCentral wants to stay compliant with the current laws in the countries it operates, this feature should be right at the top of the list.

If anyone has a workaround for this problem in the meantime, please share.

If they answer the call on their mobile APP, then they won't have to press 1.

That would work if only the call quality with the app was better.  My main users refuses to use it anymore, because it is too embarsing to use with customers.  What.. Can you repeat that... I only got ever other word, try again.  App is great in theory, but not practical for our environment.  The difference in quality between the app and a regular phone call is like comparing HD TV and VCR quality from 30 years ago.  I am assuming the problem is data on cell networks up here, it is just not cutting it, because app works great on my wifi in the office, but trying to use app while roaming is too sketchy.

I hear ya!  and understand.  We're spoiled down here in ATL with great coverage!!  Hopefully, RC will allow for on/off option.  It is a shame you were forced to go to ring groups b/c of their new mobile user policy.

This should help remove the request to press one to answer the call on the users who do not want this.  If all users do not then a template can be used to set it to all the users as well.

That is for Direct Calls to your extension.  We are talking about the Queue drop down box just below that one which is the problem.  It is missing the Never option.  The fix that I am looking for is that never option in the other drop down box.

My apologies for missing that, you are correct.  That is a feature request and I do hope anyone interested in this clickthe “like” button so that we can determine overall demand and hopefullyimplement this in the future.

This is the single most irritating thing about using this service can we please be provided with a solution, the hands free law is coming to our state soon and i would very much not like to get into a car accident trying to press 1 on a blacked out screen driving down the road. Has there been a solution for this yet.
