We received some Gigabit Color IP Phones SIP-T46S when we purchased our service from Ringcentral.  I wish to log in to the telephones from a computer (a Macintosh).  From the browser I enter the url (http://192.168.0.182/servlet?p=login&q=loginForm&jumpto=status).  There I find the Login screen.  However, I can't get beyond that because the telephones says, in red, "The username or password is error!"

I have entered Username: admin  and  Password: admin, but no luck.
I have also entered Username: admin  and the password from my account at https://service.ringcentral.com/, but no luck.

What is the trick here?

Brass, phones purchased from RC are locked so people cant mess up the configuration.  You will need to talk to your account manager to get the password and explain your need.

What are you looking to do?  I very rarely have to login to a phone.

Thanks for the quick reply.  We just received these and I am new to the situation. I am the System Administrator for the computers here, so "naturally" everyone assume I understand the telephone system.

I log into service.ringcentral.com (as the administrator).  I want to upload our firm directory into our telephones.

I go to Contacts, for "My Extension" and click the "Personal" tab.  I then upload a CSV file that contains four contacts (I am just testing this stuff for now.) I select "Import" and from there I select "Overwrite existing record with the new record." and then I select "Upload".  From there I select my CSV file and sure enough it appears to work just fine. (The four contacts are listed on the screen with their associated information.)

However, while the Contacts are listed with the web browser, they never appear on my telephone (a T46S).  For example, when I select "Directory" on the telephone screen, nothing appears except "All Contacts" which contains nothing.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Hi Brass,

At this time, only these Polycom phones are able to display and access the Corporate Directory

Hey Brass, which Personal Directory are you referring to?

I am simply trying to import a list of contacts from Excel into the telephone.  I follow the procedure from Ringcentral, which imports them into the website, but they never appear in the telephone's directory.  Is it really the case that contacts have to be individually typed in, one at a time, with hundreds of contacts?  Certainly there has to be a better way.

Hey Brass, the personal contacts you are referring to are simply to sync what is on the online portal to the desktop application - not the physical phone. The only contacts that would show up on a phone would be the corporate directory, which is only supported by the Polycom phones I mentioned above.
