This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled turn off the hold music.

Is there a way to turn off the background music on a group
call if only the host has called in? We use this line for a weekly meeting
where some remote participants occasionally call in. If they happen to call in
late, etc, the whole group has to listen to the music in the background or we
have to interrupt the meeting to call in when they join.

Hello Rick,

Have you tried the above?

I tried the keypad option above but the hold music still plays.  Is this still a valid resolution to this item?  We are rolling out RingCentral Conferencing in our enterprise and will be using it for our Board Meetings but need to be able to turn off the hold music once the host opens the call because the in person meeting will get started, even if no one has joined the conference call yet and the hold music is disruptive to the in person meeting.

Note: I previously contacted RingCentral Support about this item and was told it was not possible but then I saw this thread so I'm hoping Support was incorrect.

Hey Natasha!

Looks like we are in the process of updating this feature in our 10.1 roll out which is currently in process! It will need to be activated on your account which your Account Manager or Support should be able to do once your account has been upgraded. If you want to know when your account is scheduled for the upgrade, please contact your Account Manager.

Our account has upgraded to 10.1 but the hold music still plays when the host opens a call until a participant joins.  Is there a setting somewhere that can now be changed to stop this from happening?

Hey Natasha! This would need to be turned on by our Support Team. You can create a case and ask to have the Prevent Music/Greetings on RCC Bridge activated on your account.

Hey Natasha,

I wanted to apologize. Unfortunately, I was not given accurate information regarding this setting :( Apparently this is more of a workaround than a supported setting on the back end and it comes with some drawbacks. Your Support Technician can go into further details.

Thank you for the follow-up!  Yes, I contacted support and unfortunately the draw backs outweigh the benefit, at least for us, so we are not going to be able to use the workaround.  It turns off all sounds on the conference call including when participants enter/leave the meeting as well as stops participants from hearing the "this call is now being recorded" message which we have to have. Can this request be converted to an idea since it's not a feature yet to just turn off the music when the host opens the bridge, no matter whether participants have joined or not?

Hey Natasha,

I hope you had a lovely weekend! Feel free to post a feature request for this since it is not available at this time.
