How to turn off missed calls notifications on the new ringcentral (glip) app?

i don't like this when I get notification on every missed call, which at our company is counted as missed even someone else answered.
I like my notifications only on text messages for private messages or our dispatch, billing and other rooms.
now when i see 4 notifications on my task bar no one wrote anything, its just 4 missed calls which we get like 10 per minute, and that is confusing and taking time.
there is option in preferences for missed calls and new voicemails which i turned off, but i'm still getting missed calls notifications

Hi Edin, there is no way to do so at this time. I've flipped this to a feature request and have notified the Product Team for their consideration

Thank you for your respond.
I mean, there is an option to choose not to receive missed calls notifications, but either you turn it on or off you're still getting those.
All it needs to be done there is to make it work, as it should have been at the first place.
It is individuals choice whether or not he/she wants to be notified on missed calls so at my opinion that's something that needs to be offered to everyone.

Correct, the Product Team is aware that this isn't working properly and they're looking into it :)

Has this been fixed? It is incredibly annoying having to clear hundreds of calls a day that WERE in fact answered, just by other users.

Help please :/

Hi Benjamin,

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, our Product Team is aware of the issue and is working on a fix. When I learn more, I'll update this thread

Not so far.
I don't get it why there is an option to turn off those notification when it's not working!?!
I just believe that they're not doing anything about that when still we have missed calls notifications.
The guys that made the app should have get this done in no time.

I don't know f this will help anybody, but if you turn off phone features in the Glip app it will stop these notifications. You have to save the setting then close the app and re-open. This works for me, but I didn't use the phone features in the Glip app anyway.

Benjamin-

I hear you, but as for now ring central guys don't have a solution just for those.
I think that you'll still be receiving messages, even those sent from someones phone like texting. You just won't have missed calls notifications, everything else works fine as far as I noticed.
Try it out if you want.

Where do you go under administration?

Robyn-

Go to file on main screen, there should be administration option, if you have admin permissions.
For all steps check the comments above.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled New desktop app.

Taking off missed calls counter in the notification bar or ring central desktop app that way you only know you have messages on Glip.

How to take off that counter in the notification bar?
Thank you.

Holy moly now I'm getting "missed" call notifications on my mobile app.

Am I missing the point of this? Does this actually help any one in some situation I can't think of?

It's happening to me as well.
I don't know. If this app is used for private purposes I could see the need for missed call notifications at some point. But using it for company, and showing notification for a call that someone else answered, specially when there is like 10 of those per minute that is just pointless.
Lost in all those "not needed" notification we're actually missing to catch those that we would need to see.
But even with that, I think this should be individuals choice, and there should be an option provided for individuals to choose.

Yeah, it definitely shouldn't be a system wide setting, and having notifications that basically mean nothing is so annoying.

Even if I answer a call on my desk phone, I get an alert in the RingCentral App saying as a missed call.

Please fix this.

How does stuff like this actually get fixed? What is the best way to submit issues like this?

Hi Benjamin, I'm currently working with the Product Team on this. They're looking into it and will hopefully get back to me with more information tomorrow or later this week

Benjamin-

I have this fixed, but only by turning off phone features in administrations permissions, restart my glip app, and phone feature is gone on quick access bar on the main screen of the app and with that missed calls notifications.
After that you can just turn it back on and everyone else in your company will still have all phone features available if needed not even knowing you've did anything.
I know it would be a lot better if ringcentral guys would get this right, but I don't want to wait that long, so I go by this.

It seems like that is a good solution for the desktop app. The mobile app will still get the notifications though...

Well that solution doesn't work so well, unless you do it every time you restart your computer/reload the app. That is as much of a hassle as clearing the notifications every few seconds.

RingCentral, please, pleeeeaaaase help

So you find this once a day app restarting as much of a trouble as the clearing missed calls notifications every minute for 8 hours of a working day?! :)
It takes like 5 seconds of your time!
Then good luck waiting and begging RingCentral to do something about it.
Check out my first posting over this issue, it's been there for over two months, and they've responded that Product Team has been notified, and we have same issue to date.

This has been driving me insane. I've been told by RC that they will communicate this as something that's desired and considered for a new release. They also told me that only admins could turn the phone features on and off, (I don't have admin authority on my account) and that if they turn it off, it's off for everyone. Some of my co-workers use the phone features on the app. I don't, and I'm the one who receives the majority of the phone calls. So I'm constantly having to clear these notifications just to see if I have a new IM. This has made Glip useless for me. We use it to communicate to co-workers on things that we don't want to jam up our e-mail with. It really should not be that difficult to give someone the option to pick and choose which notifications they want to receive. Don't even get me started on the hoops I have to jump through to clear the notifications if I don't want to delete the item from the log. That part is buggy as well.

I'm sorry I don't have better option to offer, but as I was explaining to Benjamin a couple of weeks ago, your admin just needs to turn off phone features for like 5-10 sec, for you or anyone else who don't want to receive missed calls notifications, until you start your "glip" app (or if it's already running you need to turn it off and back on).
After that he can turn back on phone features, but on your side it will be off until next time you restart your "glip" app.
It's not the solution I want or like but as for now is the only one I could find on my side.
