I like my notifications only on text messages for private messages or our dispatch, billing and other rooms.
now when i see 4 notifications on my task bar no one wrote anything, its just 4 missed calls which we get like 10 per minute, and that is confusing and taking time.
there is option in preferences for missed calls and new voicemails which i turned off, but i'm still getting missed calls notifications

I mean, there is an option to choose not to receive missed calls notifications, but either you turn it on or off you're still getting those.
All it needs to be done there is to make it work, as it should have been at the first place.
It is individuals choice whether or not he/she wants to be notified on missed calls so at my opinion that's something that needs to be offered to everyone.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, our Product Team is aware of the issue and is working on a fix. When I learn more, I'll update this thread

I don't get it why there is an option to turn off those notification when it's not working!?!
I just believe that they're not doing anything about that when still we have missed calls notifications.
The guys that made the app should have get this done in no time.

But as an admin for my company I just turn those off, turn off and back on my ring central desktop app and that takes effect and it is helpfull. Thank you Ron.

That does not helps, even it should have, 'cause that's what the option is saying "turn off missed calls notifications".
What does help is, go the "file" option at the left upper corner on main screen of your ring central desktop app, then "administration", and first option under "company settings" which is "enable phone features", that you need to turn off. After that you need to reboot your app. You'll see that there is no "phone" feature on the left blue side section, and with that no missed calls notifications.
But that's something you can do only if you have administrator permissions.

That is correct. But as soon as you disable it and reboot your glip app you can enable it again. Other users in company won't even noticed that you've changed anything, and you won't have missed calls notifications until next time you reboot your glip app.
When that does happened you just do this again.
That's what I do in my company pretty much every morning. :)

The only reason it is a "big" hassle for me is because we use Glip to communicate with our technicians in the field. I need to know if I have messages waiting for me from them. Missed call notifications are pointless, it serves no purpose at all. The calls aren't even missed - they were answered by someone else.

I hear you, but as for now ring central guys don't have a solution just for those.
I think that you'll still be receiving messages, even those sent from someones phone like texting. You just won't have missed calls notifications, everything else works fine as far as I noticed.
Try it out if you want.

Go to file on main screen, there should be administration option, if you have admin permissions.
For all steps check the comments above.

Taking off missed calls counter in the notification bar or ring central desktop app that way you only know you have messages on Glip.

How to take off that counter in the notification bar?
Thank you.

Am I missing the point of this? Does this actually help any one in some situation I can't think of?

I don't know. If this app is used for private purposes I could see the need for missed call notifications at some point. But using it for company, and showing notification for a call that someone else answered, specially when there is like 10 of those per minute that is just pointless.
Lost in all those "not needed" notification we're actually missing to catch those that we would need to see.
But even with that, I think this should be individuals choice, and there should be an option provided for individuals to choose.

I have this fixed, but only by turning off phone features in administrations permissions, restart my glip app, and phone feature is gone on quick access bar on the main screen of the app and with that missed calls notifications.
After that you can just turn it back on and everyone else in your company will still have all phone features available if needed not even knowing you've did anything.
I know it would be a lot better if ringcentral guys would get this right, but I don't want to wait that long, so I go by this.

It takes like 5 seconds of your time!
Then good luck waiting and begging RingCentral to do something about it.
Check out my first posting over this issue, it's been there for over two months, and they've responded that Product Team has been notified, and we have same issue to date.

After that he can turn back on phone features, but on your side it will be off until next time you restart your "glip" app.
It's not the solution I want or like but as for now is the only one I could find on my side.
