If they do not want to wait the minimum of 1min to leave a voicemail, I would like the 'hold interrupt' message to prompt the caller to leave a voicemail or continue to hold.

Hi Michael,

Just create a message only extension and in your interrupt greeting tell people "to leave a voice mail now, hit 8 (For Example)" This will then transfer the caller to ext 8 and then you record the voice mail message and let them leave a vm.

Make sense?

If not contact me directly and I could help you out

Thanks

That's a good idea.

I am still trying to make sense of all of the extension and department voicemail boxes that we need to check throughout the day. If I make a new 'messages only' extension, can the vm's be directed to a group's voicemail box?

I believe you could choose where the voice mail is delivered to.

There should be a drop down under messages to select

Chuck is right - just have the voicemail messages for that VM-only extension send to your email address (or someone else in your organization) so you don't miss any messages.

Can you guys not bring back the pound # in call queues to go to the department voicemail instead of having to create a separate extension to capture the voicemail?

It use to work great and we would tell users in the interrupt
