How do I assign a phone number in the system to be the number used when a person calls auto reception and presses 1 or 2 etc.? Ex: Right now we have a greeting that says "For sales press 1." I plan to change the custom greeting, how do I set up phone numbers already in our phone system for the "press 1"? Dave's extension is 205 but when someone calls I want the auto reception to say "Press 2 for support" and to send it to Dave's phone.

Hi Micore, there are several ways to accomplish this type of thing. The one item in common is when people select a menu option it is tied directly to a system extension. So with that said we reconfigure the system and extension numbers accordingly to meet the needs.

If you have phones that support presence we could do this even better by providing more options to the user.

If you would like to discuss further how we could obtain your goals with this, contact me directly.

Thanks

All you need to do is re-record your custom greeting with the extensions "labeled" correctly. Change Dave's extension number to 2 if you want his extension to be what callers reach when they press 2 on hearing the auto-receptionist's message. (You can also keep his extension the same and set up a Call Queue Group with the number 2 - you'd just have to add Dave as a member of that group.)
