We are an 8 person office in US.  Going to 11 people in the next few months.  We use Polycom IP 550 phones, slowly upgrading to VVX 410 and VVX 500 phones. We REALLY miss the intercom feature of our old PBX system.  The presence feature is nice on the VVX phones, for just viewing at a glance.   It is not helpful to call that person by pressing their name.   Absolutely USELESS.  The intercom feature works well, but is tedious to do and requires knowledge of the extension.   Pressing the name should be a one touch intercom.   Or at least be able to program a speeddial button for intercom.   Generally, our work around is looking a the presence, verify that person is not on a call, then shout loudly.

You must be doing something incorrect or not have rights setup  You should be able to press that button and it will call the person.

Check the rights, I know this works as my clients do this all the time.

Thanks

Pressing the button does call that person. But that does not mean it is a helpful feature. Honestly shouting across three hallways is alot easier. I know how to use the intercom soft key, it works. But it it is also tedious, and you have to memorize the extension you want to call.

As a side note, Going thru the phone interface and the web UI for the phone, I was able to get the VVX 500 to show twelve lines vs 8. Then added speed dial buttons for my favorites using intercom codes. A real PIA, but it is working.

Like Jason, we are are an 8 person office.   We currently useVVX 410 and VVX 500 phones. We REALLY miss the intercom feature of our old PBX system.  Chuck, it is not helpful to call that person by pressing their name.   We are looking for two-way communication without having to call them and have their phone ring.  We want to push a button, say "Hey Bob, can you come here for a moment?"  and Bob can respond.   The intercom feature works,  but it is a pain to have to remember extensions.    Pressing the name should be a one touch intercom.   Or at least be able to program a speeddial button for intercom.  We are in our 30 day review period and if this is not an option we will just be sticking with our old PBX system.  Many thanks for any advice you can give.

This needs to be implemented. Our OLD system had this and I can't believe RingCentral does not have this feature. Major downside to using Ring Central.
