Is there a way that we can forward a fax that was sent out to our ring central fax number to another fax number outside of ringcentral?

Are you referring to a fax your a sending or a fax you received?

We would like faxes we receive to automatically be forwarded to another number

In that case, set up an advanced rule to unconditionally call forward calls to your fax number to the other number.

I tried to set up an advanced rule but the only phone numbers that are available for in the advanced rule set up are regular phone numbers no fax line shows up.

You're right.  I should have verified before rendering advice.  I guess b/c it's the main fax you can't create a rule for it.  Therefore, the only option left would be to buy an additional number then have support swap with you main fax.  Then you can do the advanced rule.

It probably wouldn't hurt to ask support if they could forward the umber for you - if your goal is to permanently CF your fax.

Do the faxes have to be received via fax to the new number, or can the be received by email? If email works, then all you need to do is set up your RingCentral notifications to receive the fax notification with attachment, and then set a rule in your email client to forward the email.

Does this work, I don't see an actual resolution, and Ringcentral is telling me they cannot forward fax?

Carbon Argo,

Here are a few examples of how you can forward a fax. Does this help and/or answer your question?

Can you add the feature to forward our ring central fax to an external fax number for my account?

Hi Samata,

The forwarding options that Jared shows are already available to RC Users.

If you're referring to the setup that Danno mentioned, you can always ask our Support Team to help walk you through it

I just got finished chatting with a tech.  Capability does not exist (his words).  I need to have our faxes go to our EMR company so they can distribute them to the appropriate patient's chart.  Since it is impossible for Ring Central to accomplish this, as I told the tech, it's time to Fire RingCentral and find another provider that will work with it's customers (the people who pay their bills and employees).  I'm not sure why I would have to BUY another line to make this happen.  So in the meantime, I will continue to look at each fax, download them, put them into the patient's charts MANUALLY! and go from there.
I am disgusted with the service that RingCentral provides.  I don't understand how they can keep customers.

What? RingCentral absolutely can do this, but it is a workaround solution. The general idea is this:

  • Have your fax machine forward to your RingCentral phone number (not the extension, the direct number)
  • Have that phone number forward everything to your companies email address
  • to create a free group on google, use google groups and use Group Type email list, and make sure only members/owners/etc can post to it so you don't get spammed. Name the group info@company.com and assign individuals to it (peggy@company.com, hank@company.com,beavis@company.com)
Here's where it gets confusing and a needless kick in the dick. Changing the email address for your phone number you're going to fax doesn't change the email where the fax is being sent to. You have to:
  1. Log in as super user
  2. select phone number in question
  3. Click on Messages & Notifications
  4. Click on Settings
  5. Click Edit
  6. and THATS where you change where your emails are sent to.
You'd think it'd be in the outbound section, but no.

My honest advice is to just get a machine that can forward automatically. If you're paying $30 a month for a ringcentral phone number to receive faxes, just cut out the middle man and get a fax machine that does what you want. You'll save money in the long run.
