is there a way to shorten the time it takes auto receptionist to dial the operator extension?

Our main number routes to a brief menu and then transfers the call to the operator if the caller takes no action. I have timed this, and there is about five seconds of dead air before the call reaches the operator. 

We are loosing a few calls a day and I believe it may be because people are confused about whether they've been dropped while their calls are waiting to be received by the operator.

My question is whether or not there is a way to shorten the amount of time it takes for the system to send these calls to the OE.  I suspect not, but I thought I would check.

Sorry for missing your post! Are you still having this issue? It almost sounds like there may be a Network Issue and that could be what's delaying the transfer. It shouldn't take that long...
