Ability to leave voicemail for all users at same time.

It would be really useful to leave a voice message for all users at the same time.  Since we are in the North East and have snow days quite often, a way to dial 1 extension that leaves a voice mail for every other extension (or better yet, the ability to choose who to send to via selection) would be great for us to tell of office closures to the staff.  Does anyone know of a way to do this?

One way you could do this would be to use an announcements only extension.

Just wondering, how would users know they have a new "group" message?

Most voicemail system systems just have the option to drop the same message in x number of user's mailboxes.  Usually there is an option for all users and also defined groups like sales, support, etc.

@ Cecile...

I was in my vehicle when I dictated that one line answer above. Did you see my followup message after that? The "How to" would be simple. Just have it as a menu item on your auto-attendant. The "When to' would be trickier depending on the type of business. If it's a school or business in a particular area (as Hare states is his situation) they would know if weather dictated they should call in to listen to the pre-recorded announcement (i.e., "Press 5 to listen to inclement weather instructions."

In your situation it obviously would not be as simple. If you are nationwide, as I believe you stated once before, and if you are contacting certain people for an "emergency situation" there would be no way they would know about the emergency situation.

I was answering to how Hare could take care of an inclement weather announcement, which would work in a given area that receives the same type of weather.

Thanks for the clarification, we are not nationwide - we are a K-12 School District with presently 28 sites - but expanding again very soon.  Standard communication protocols with Emergency Management agencies and organizations, are for push communication rather than expecting employees to call in for a status, specifically because expecting/mandating employees "call-in" for status is an inefficient way to communicate and often not possible due to system load when inclement weather or other disaster situations are in process.  I wonder if RingCentral has published any Best Practices guides on this topic - as it certainly seems to bear further detailed discussion.    If searching the web for additional information, look at CERT - Community Emergency Response Teams -   https://www.fema.gov/community-emergency-response-teams

I agree with you Cecile...in your situation it is totally different. Certain industries and government organizations do require push notifications to be compliant. I know there's nothing in RingCentral right now that can accommodate your type of situation. Further I don't know if RingCentral is working on anything to accomplish that end. I agree that some type of push notification would be very helpful for many organizations.

RC does not have Group Mailboxes typically found with premise-based PBXs.  Suggestion would be to create a mailbox for users to call into to listen for inclement weather closings or delays.

This would be a good feature request.  Along similar lines it would be nice to send group SMS (without manually adding all users).

I've converted this thread to a feature request!

Great!   We would really use this feature when it comes available - we have over 2000 users and for Emergency Communications to all users this would be really helpful.
