Why has the Entry-Exit chime been turned off by default?

I've noticed it still chimes when joining, but doesn't seem to be upon exit.  Is this what you are experiencing?  Or do you not have it for both?

We still have it on entry.  Not exit.  Is it possible that this might be a version dependent feature?

I'm looking into this. I'll post an update when I confirm what happened.

It only works for us if you use the meeting interface and click Manage Participants, more, then click entry exit chime.  It should be on by default and then you should have the ability to turn off.  This is how it used to work before the upgrade.  Most of the time we are using the meeting app for just hte call bridge and dont launch the presentation interface.  We need to know when people enter or leave a meeting.  This is a basic feature all meeting apps have.  Thank you,

Any updates on this? Our users are complaining that they have no idea when someone joins or leaves the call. Almost all of our calls are initiated by phone only, not by starting the application. There is a tone command that is supposed to change the settings *#8* but that does not work.

I have an open ticket for this issue, but have not been provided a solution yet. Has anyone figured this out?

I'm awaiting more details from our product team but at this point they have advised me....

Thischanged when the bridge technology was replaced on Dec 2. The old bridge usedto play enter/exit chimes for any dial-in user that entered or exitedregardless of the Host's "Play Enter/Exit Chime" setting. With thenew bridge dial-in users are now tied to the Host's "Play Enter/ExitChime" setting

This is unfortunate if this cannot be changed... My company has me looking into other conference calling options because of this. Why would anyone not want to know if someone joins or leaves the call?

The Host setting would be fine if it can be setup as an option that is always on.  We too are looking at an alternative dial bridge such as Webex.

In follow up to your post, Mike, can the Host set "Play Enter / Exit Chime" as their default?  It makes no sense to go and activate that every time.  I'd like to know if the host can automatically have that active after setting it once.

After reading all of the questions, complaints, and replies, is there a way to enable this as the default setting or not?  We were using this as a means to be notified of a user joining the meeting without video and now we don't have that option, by default.  Could you please let me know where, on the Admin portal, I can change this for all users?  Thank you very much.

I was told No, but hopefully someone figures out a way.  Otherwise we have to move back to Gotomeeting or Webex.

After chatting with RingCentral support this afternoon, I was told that the chime is set by default for video meetings.  The chime is not active for audio-only meetings and needs to be turned on per user per meeting.  I was also advised to submit a feature request to make the chime a default setting for all meeting types.  Just thought I would update everyone on this thread with what I found.  Good luck!

Correct Donald,

For anyone looking for the setting, this KB article shows the steps and other available controls.

Here is the link to the Feature Request Donald mentioned for anyone who wishes to vote or comment.

That is disappointing.  Chime upon entry/exit is basic phone conferencing functionality that has been available for years.  It is especially convoluted that "audio only" conferences lack it by default.  These are the types of calls where most "presenters" would not actually log into the app.  Big fail by RingCentral in my mind.
