Meeting Has Not Started

Alot of our users setup audio only meetings using RC meetings because its easier to schedule them that way. One of our Executive Admin Assistants has discovered an issue that we cannot figure out. She schedules multiple calls a day for the executive and sometimes when they call into one of the meetings via phone, it tells them the meeting has not started yet. First of all, his account is set to allow join before host. Secondly when the host joins via audio, there is no way for them to identify themselves as the host. There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason to why this happens. It just happens at random We thought it was happening when she scheduled back to back calls but we test that and could not recreate the issue. 

Can anyone offer any insight?

I think there is a time limit before the scheduled meeting time.  Even allowing join before host doesn't necessarily mean they can join maybe 15 or even 10 minutes early.   This is just a guess on my part, but you should be able to test and see if the limit might be 5 minutes before the scheduled time.

Hi David... The system should let them join, as long as the invitation allows "join before host".  It sounds like the sedond issue is likely when the user dials in without entering the meeting on either the desktop app or mobile app first. If you don't enter the meeting using the mobile or desktop app first, you don't get the Participant ID. 

The system does allow you to dial in, enter the meeting ID, but skip the participant ID, but then the system has no way of linking the caller to the participant/host, so it looks like a sort of unknown attendee

Have them enter the meeting on the mobile app or desktop app first, then join the audio by phone/dial in option. There's a screen that pops up when you choose the "dial in" option and it includes a Participant ID.   This should solve the problem.  


As for the first issue,  if you have callers that can't join even if "join before host" is selected, then please document the details;  time, date host, attendees etc. and open a support case so it can be researched.
