Meeting ID invalid. I'm not a registered user, I'm trying to view a presenter's RC meeting but when using my MacBook it says the meeting ID is invalid and my only option is to Leave. The same Meeting ID works on my ringcentral meetings app on my iPhone. I have the most recent version of RC downloaded and the most recent iOS. Please help.

Hi Nick,

Are you getting any sort of error number? Is it possible for you to post a screenshot of the error you are receiving? Thanks!

Can you confirm if you're using a link to launch RC Meetings or are you manually typing in the number?

I've done both but neither work.  Side note, I had been using RC meetings for a year prior to having these problems.

We've had a couple reported issues with Macs and RC Meetings lately, but they have different error messages than the one you are receiving. Are you able to join any meetings via your Mac? Is it one specific ID that is giving you this issue?

I can only join meetings that are not personal ID's.  No personal meeting ID's work and we have around ten that are used -- none of them work with my Mac.  All of them work on other devices.

Have you ever used Zoom Meetings instead of RC Meetings? If you have both Zoom and RC Meetings on your computer, that can cause errors.

If you have ever used Zoom on your computer, try this: Remove RC Meetings, then go into ~/Library/Preferences and look for ZoomChat.plist. Delete that file. Make sure the trash is empty then redownload and install RC Meetings from this link: http://dn.ringcentral.com/data/web/download/RCMeetings/1210/RCMeetingsClientSetup.pkg

I absolutely have used Zoom.  Thanks!  I can't find the ZoomChat.plist though.

If you search for Zoom in your Finder, does anything populate?

Yes, two recorded meetings.  I deleted them and will try the other steps now.

That didn't fix it.  Do I just need to get rid of Zoom?

Yes. Remove Zoom from your computer, empty out the trash, and restart.

Another Community posted these potential workaround steps for an issue they were receiving with their Mac. I can't vouch for it personally, but it seemed to work for others!

1.) go to /Applications/Utilities and open the Terminal
2.) type  "cd /Applications/RingCentral\ Meetings.app/Contents/MacOS/" WITHOUT PARENTHESIS
This will put the working directory in the RingCentral Meetings app itself
3.) you need to run the app with admin rights (not sure why but its the only think that fixed it)
so type "sudo ./RingCentral\ Meetings" WITHOUT PARENTHESIS
4.)Login like you would normally login.

Also, RingCentral meetings has similar network requirements to the rest of the RingCentral phones, check out this article for instructions on making sure your network is up to requirements: https://success.ringcentral.com/articles/en_US/RC_Knowledge_Article/9233

The sections that specifically relate to meetings are:

Section 7 - IP supernets

Section 8.6 - Whitelists including: ringcentral.zoom.us , meetings.ringcentral.com , & *.zoom.us

Section 10 – Bandwidth
