I know RC does not offer message notification by being called but I wanted to know if anyone has any ideas on how this could be implemented whether through 3rd party methods or anything else. I prefer that the caller leaves a message as opposed to the call being instantly transferred to a person on call. An email or text isn't necessarily going to wake someone if they are asleep so I'm looking for a phone call.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi Kevin,  If you are having the message notifications forwarded so that they are accessible on your cell phone, then you might want to contact your cell phone service provider for assistance. Pretty much all modern smart phones allow you to set up custom email or text notifications.  You could select some sort of ringer or notification that is much louder or longer for notifications that come from RingCentral.    Good question though!  Anyone else with other ideas?

Thanks for the reply Mike. I've used Tasker for Android on my own phone to customize notifications to some degree but it doesn't help with an iPhone user or others. I can't understand why a standard feature from old pbx hardware isn't available. It would be great if there was an additional option under notifications where you could put in phone numbers for message delivery in addition to email & SMS. Email & SMS don't wake you in the middle of the night and putting the call straight through instead of taking a voicemail message isn't always a viable option.

I flipped this from a Question to an Idea topic. I'm not sure how much demand there is for something like this so anyone else who would like to see this please click the "Like" button above.

This would be useful in my case also. Currently we have a call queue set up, and after-hours, the person on call will simply stay available and continue receiving calls. As Kevin said, this isn't always viable. What would be great, would be if we could forward to say a Messages-Only extension after hours, and then have the option to notify a user by phone call.

I suppose we could do SMS and then have users select a louder or prolonged tone for messages. I wouldn't want to dictate what sorts of ringtones they have on their personal devices though.

A good idea!
