I am extremely happy that you have added SMS/text messaging ability to your system. It was one of the things I was waiting for. But since I have signed up I've found that customers try to send me MMS/picture messages. This is usually to aid in solving a problem or questions.

While I know none of the other competing products have this either I think this would be a great offering to differentiate you from the pack. In another forum I cam across a suggestion of having the picture being sent to the users email instead of the normal route. I know a lot of people that use MMS daily on their mobile phones and since I'm using my Ring Central number as my main one for customers it does kind of lack that feature. I have to then give out my cell phone number for them to send me the picture. A couple of times I didn't even know that they tried to send me a picture. Please consider this option.

Very Funny Ryan! Count me in! But all kidding aside...

RingCentral: your customers are asking very pointed questions about a critical breakdown in your software that is negatively affecting our business!!! I was directed by tech support to this forum as the way to communicate new ideas... yet we cannot get a response. Step up to the plate RingCentral or I will be looking for other options.

- Previously happy customer.

I take requirements from my customers too and had hoped that someone would appreciate the drastic measures I'm willing to go to. lol. Requirements are just that. It doesn't mean they need to be implemented, but they are required for users to use a particular feature (remain a customer). I almost feel like this issue should be recategorized as a Bug instead of an Idea. 'Hey, I have an idea. It's not like every other provider offering SMS doesn't have it, but it's just an idea. Hear me out. Make the text messaging service work.' I don't mean to be silly or sarcastic, but I'm going to do what I can to keep the heat on this. I'll describe in detail (maybe even a word for word transcript) the next time this issue comes up and makes me look ridiculous in front of my customers.

I was happy with RC before they offered SMS. I still am happy with them, but since switching business SMS to the Ring Central lines, it's obvious that the failure to include MMS is a glaring oversight. I would be happy to use a different service for SMS/MMS altogether. But text messaging as a feature is broken and we need an answer. RC's offering is worse than text messaging in 2002. I was better off giving my customers my cell phone number. Google Voice/Hangouts is a very good alternative at this point. It lacks business collaboration features, but nails a seamless text messaging process.

We at least need a reasonable response as to why RC is not prioritizing this issue. It's not a technical challenge obviously. It's just a priority issue. They could knock this out in a single sprint cycle for the core product, maybe another each for the iOS and desktop clients. I don't know what their development processes are like, but unless their SMS was built so poorly that it can't be improved upon, this needs to get solved ASAP. And if their foundation for SMS is so shoddy that it needs completely rewritten, I'm willing to accept that and eagerly await however long it takes to get it done...

Sorry if I'm rambling.

I feel your pain Ryan! I keep finding new ways to re-explain the same issue, as is everyone else in this forum. I would call this a BROKEN feature. Having SMS without MMS ability in 2015 is a negative feature, plain and simple. I am at a loss of how to wake RingCentral up to this point. (so here I am trying to be the squeaky wheel)

Could definitely use this. At this point we have signed up for Mightytext, and don't really use RC's SMS feature anymore. It doesn't make sense to have to sign up for two different services, just so that we can have a feature that our customers and drivers almost always assume we have. RC's SMS feature slows us down and costs us money in more ways than one. Missing messages, dealing with issues behind schedule, explaining to customers or drivers that "we can't do that", or "Let me give you this other number to text". Also, the cost of the actual service, and now the cost of mightytext.

Overall, not an ideal situation we have here.

In summary: BUMP. Ringcentral, please work on this.

Android app is extremely useful, but not absolutely necessary. Our staff usually just keeps a second browser tab on the mightytext interface. Check this site: http://mightytext.net/-send-mms If you aren't signed in, navigating this shows you youtube videos on how to use the features.

I have been an RC customer for 2 years now, and this feature (as well as SMS with 160+ characters) still plagues the entire RC community. Please RC let's get moving on this important feature of RC.

RC doesn't care about this issue (let's be honest) because none of their competitors have it, plain and simple. If www.Grasshopper.com bought www.zipwhip.com this would suddenly become a top priority.

Even just some indication of whether we are waiting  6 months, a year, or 18 months for this feature would be nice. I use my cell phone in my business far more than I want to and this feature is the main reason for that. I should be able to use Ring Central as my primary phone but can't since it generates picture text messages which I never get.

I agree that this feature is much needed. MMS is a standard expectation these days ... customers often send pictures to my number without me knowing. They then think I am ignoring their messages.

A very common complaint on this thread. I know that the technology behind MMS is quite different than the technology behind SMS, so I understand why it wasn't launched initially. That said, the SMS feature has been out long enough that a graduation to MMS ability should be reasonable at this point. It sure would be nice to have an official response to this feature request!

Thank you for your feedback on this and your impressive level of commitment on this.  I have never heard a threat of a hunger strike on a feature before!

We are actively evaluating solutions for MMS on the RingCentral service.  We don't have a date for this, but we heard you.

Again, thank you for taking the time to contribute to the community.

Thank you José for responding to us here in the trenches! I think that Ryan Phillips will be happy to start eating something again. Knowing that you are actively evaluating solutions will likely appease most of us for a month or two.

I think I can speak for many when I say we hope that you will keep us posted as there is any further update so we can manage our expectations.

This needs to be made a top priority... I have ot admit I get a bit giddy when I see the softphone update and like a kid on Christmas I rummage through the upgrade notes looking so eagerly for the MMS enhancement!  Hell, I think most of us would even pay for an add on feature if we could just have this sooner than later!!! #DesperatelySeekingMMS

This feature is very important to my business.  I have to give out my cell and can't use RC for texting because the main reason clients text me is to send photos of the vehicles and property I am insuring for them... Then they all save and call my cell phone instead of the office number.  Please add this and be WAY ahead of the pack and add it to the Salesforce app as well... Still waiting for SMS on the Salesforce app... RC is starting to fall behind other tech providers... We need templates, texting lists, and MMS!!!

I am actively searching for other solutions that support both SMS and MMS.  I have been missing a number of texts and I don't know how many more I might have missed that makes me lose business because you do not support MMS.  A number of people's phones by default send MMS messages even if they are text only.  This is a huge drawback that I have been seeing recently and you either need a solution or you will be losing me as a customer.

I have also noticed that some phones tend to send messages as MMS even if it is just a text based message. This seems to most often occur on some devices when somebody is sending a message to a group of multiple recipients.

I just installed MightyText.  I'm spending $100/month for RingCentral, and I had to go to a free ap to get the basic functionality of being able to send and receive images via text message.  That's just silly.  Ten years ago?  OK, back then, sending an image via text was pretty exotic stuff.  But in 2015, it is not only ordinary course of business, but a key functionality that many of us depend upon.

Two days ago, I had a service provider text me 10 photos from a project site.  The situation was time sensitive.  In fact, it was urgent.  I had to get the photos instantly, and I had to act on them instantly.  That is what SMS and MMS are all about, and, like it or not, it is a reality of today's business environment.

There is a lot of useful functionality in RC--don't get me wrong--BUT: one of the central (sorry for the pun) tenets of RC is the "Single Number" design.  This is what brought me to RingCentral in the first place.  I was losing business as a result of juggling multiple numbers, multiple inboxes...things were getting lost in the mess.  My goal is to clean up the mess; have one number, connected to one voicemail system and one text message system.

RC brings us close to that.  But without MMS, it puts a weighty hole in the delivery of that promise.  Clearly, I cannot give out my RC number as a text number--or send texts from my RC number.  If I do, people will send texts to me on that number, and I will, by definition, miss 20% or more of the texts that are sent to me--and I will never know that I did.  To the RC team: business does not work that way!  We can't give our customers a tool for contacting us, and then only manage to connect 80% of the time.  What are my customers going to think when they send me an urgent text with a photo and they never hear back from me?  How can I possibly stay in business at that rate?

RC, you are doing a great job with a lot of things, but, sadly, until you make MMS possible, you need to remove the "Central" from RingCentral.  You qualify for the Ring...but, unfortunately, you do not qualify as my Central.  I sincerely wish you did.

Please fix this. Thank you.

Yes Please please please make it so we can do real group conversations. Currently it sends out a group SMS to each individual person so that there are individual conversations with each recipient instead of a group conversation. Please make this one a priority!

We have been using Ring Central for 4 years now.  An MMS system where our customers could text photos would help immensely as we use customers photos in our magazine and on our website, and most people are using their IPhones for photos now.  If that option was available the service would be much more valuable!

I don't have confirmation of anything planned yet, but our Product Team is very aware of the high demand for this.  There is a lot of discussion going on about new features and a deeper Glip integration (which allows picture messaging), but it's too early to say what it will look like or when true MMS will be available.

I don't think file attaching is supported by MMS by the cell carriers. iMessage, yes, but traditional MMS, no. I think you would have to use pictures once this feature becomes available. Thankfully today they announced it is on the roadmap for development!

This is an absolute must, we have customers text us pictures all the time and unfortunately we don't even know about it.  Worse, the customer doesn't even know that we didn't receive it.  While working on implementing this feature, can you somehow create an automated response stating this is not supported so the customer knows that we didn't receive the picture?

Any updates on MMS? We are need of this! As a new customer of RC I'm not very happy about not having MMS. I am a realtor and clients wants to send me photos of houses they want to see etc. I ask that Ring Central reply with an update. It's been many years that customers have been asking for this. Where is your priorities RC? You will be losing customers over a silly feature. I will not recommend this company if a feature like MMS cannot be added. Otherwise, everything is is great. Just please do something with MMS.

Sorry we do not yet have an ETA at this time as there are many dependencies that can affect the release date.  This will probably be several more months down the road.
