I am extremely happy that you have added SMS/text messaging ability to your system. It was one of the things I was waiting for. But since I have signed up I've found that customers try to send me MMS/picture messages. This is usually to aid in solving a problem or questions.

While I know none of the other competing products have this either I think this would be a great offering to differentiate you from the pack. In another forum I cam across a suggestion of having the picture being sent to the users email instead of the normal route. I know a lot of people that use MMS daily on their mobile phones and since I'm using my Ring Central number as my main one for customers it does kind of lack that feature. I have to then give out my cell phone number for them to send me the picture. A couple of times I didn't even know that they tried to send me a picture. Please consider this option.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Need to have Image SMS Text Messaging.. help someone!??.

We do real estate property management and I have maintenance staff that are required to post before and after photos into their task list. At times I need for them to send me a text message of the image of a part so I can look it up online to order or I may receive an invoice from a vendor who is sending me an image text of a property they just completed doing the lawn cut and for some reason I can never receive the image sms text message and the person on the other end sending the image text says they keep getting an error when trying to send it. I need to at times send image text messages too... I don't seem to find the option to select attaching of an image and I certainly can't receive them... is there something that I'm missing that I can't find this option or is this something that can be added?? Also, smile emoticon's would be a nice add on too..

Google Voice Is Free and you can get MMS Messages with Google Voice. Why is this an Issue to Bring to a Paid Business Account.

It really is ludicrous. Speaking of Google Voice, they have a Glip integration for Hangouts, which you would think they'd use to figure out how to make MMS work in some capacity, if they can't make this very basic feature work like every other carrier has managed to do.

While you are at it Why not Add add the option of Short Codes.  So we can get updates from our Bank and Credit card company's. Google Voice also has this option. If I want to get a short code in my ring central account I have to have the message sent to Google Voice them have Google Voice resend the Message to my Ring Central Number.

Yep, and the features they do have are unreliable. I had to complain for three weeks when my regular SMS texting stopped working. It's finally working now, after much ado, but some texts, from some services still don't work, so I have to use Hangouts for those.

Our company uses picture messages all the time to receive order requests! Please add MMS to Ring Central soon! This is a very important feature and will make RC stand out from all the other IP phone companies.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled MMS support.

It would really be great if you added MMS support. It is 2016 and still no MMS support. Could the MMS just be delivered to the email address, it doesn't even need to be in the app.

Now I can understand if you don't add MMS support in the future but it would be really really helpful if there could be an automated reply to the sender that the MMS message was not received. Or the receiver could get a text message that simpley say MMS was sent to this number so I know a message was sent.

It seems like line2.com is offering mms support. It would really be great if there was some way of knowing that a MMS was sent to me so I can at least reply and ask them to send it via email

I have a 10 year history with my clients allowing them to text pictures. I was under the impression I could receive mms when I made the switch to RC. Now I'm committed and am missing quite a bit of messages. I really need to have MMS ability. I hope this will become a reality

Google voice is free and has mms capabilities. Obviously it's not as good as ring central but I would have stayed with Google voice if I wasn't blatantly lied to about ring central having MMS feature.

Sounds like your rep was selling on the hopes of a newly released feature. Or in the majority of the cases people rarely understand the difference between SMS and MMS because to the consumer its all the same.

We'll also be very excited to see this feature happen. I've transferred my cell number to RingCentral and there are a lot of people who are used to sending me photos. Now if someone sends me a photo with a question, I don't even get notified that anything has happened! It would be nice to have some knowledge that someone isn't waiting expectantly for a response to something I'm totally unaware of.

Oh we tested calls and texts and the various other great features. Everything worked really well and I was suitably impressed by the system overall (kudos overall). SMS and MMS are such mutually integrated features that it just never occurred to me to specifically check that. How many VOIP systems have I set up from which to gain this piece of experience from? One. This one. Now I know to check,

Experience isn't something you have until just after you need it...

Personally I'd much rather people e-mail me photos anyways. But that is not how many people operate and I can't seem to change everyone to suit me.

Hello.

Just adding my vote. Ideally we'd like to have MMS functionality, but if not, the person sending an MMS to a RC number should get some type of failure message. Thanks.

Just curious with all the threats of "leaving because of no mms support."  What business class system has it?  I can see if you're a one man show or something that maybe there would be something out there that does that and would be a better fit.  Please enlighten me so I can educate myself on the competition because I don't know of anything as scalable and robust that has it. This is no small project to take on so to me I'm happy and thankful that RingCentral is listening to us and bringing it our way.

That's fair and I've been one of those one's waiting, but there is probably a reason that no one else is doing this either and it's because it is a pretty significant undertaking on the dev side.  So in my opinion, go RC for being the first of the reputable and competitive solutions to work on building it in.

Salesforce Service Cloud has Live Messenger which now supports full sms/mms capability. Multithread user interface etc. There are several voips that integrate with SalesForce as well, including RC. So it will really come down to best way to recapture cost if I have to add an additional subscription to do something that RC doesn't. Especially considering we text as much or more than we talk these days.

I'm the owner of a small IT shop.  We fully manage anything with a wire at a lot of businesses in our city.  The simplest form of communication for a lot of my clients and their employees is texting.  We are not a huge corporation, we are small company that cares a lot about simple and quick interactions with clients.  If they can just send a photo of an issue, we have nothing else to talk about, there's no miss-communications with photos and no complicated and confused explications from non-technical users.

I've personally written a python interface for a provider's service that will connect texting (including MMS) into our ticketing system. In the VERY near future my clients will be able to text us, and we will be able to text them back, completely within Zendesk.  The Texting/MMS system is already working flawlessly and I'm the only programmer at my shop!

My next step is to get phones working and them I'm moving to their service.  I'd rather not mention the name of the provider on RC's forum out of respect.  RC's service is probably the best, but the lack of MMS (or at least a bounce error when somebody sends a photo) is a deal breaker at this point.  At least with a bounce, they would know that they should have emailed.

I don't care if no other VIOP providers offer MMS.  I want RC to do it.  Their service is the best or I wouldn't have chosen them.
