Mobile App 'RC Phone' should not auto-start with the device

When you have installed the 'Ring Central Phone' app on your mobile it will be automatically started when the phone is turned on and silently run in the background.

When you are in the office where you use a desk phone or the Windows client when you receive a call the mobile will ring in addition to your phone.

We only need the mobile app when we are out of the office and at all other times we don't want the mobile client to ring at the same time. With multiple desk phones and mobiles going off the noise is too much - you only need to be notified via one device.

Current ways to do this that don't fully work

1) In the online portal each user can set their 'call handling' so the 'Windows and mobile clients' are not triggered when a call comes in. This is not what we want because depending on our current work (different each day) we use the Windows client too - so we can't just disable that part of the call handling.

2) If your company does not use the 'after hours' settings for the call handling you could perhaps use this to disable the windows and mobile clients in the call handling but like I say we also use the windows client and we can't tie what client will be used down to a specific time.

3) I have an Android device and I have even used system tools apps to mange the 'boot apps' and disabled the 'RC Phone' app but it still runs in the background.

4) You can go into the app's 'profile settings' and disable 'Data (VoIP) calling' but this is cumbersome, easy to forget, leads to additional complications (and perhaps call charges) using 'RngOut'

5) You can mute your phone but then other apps, such as work email and team chat, will not be able to notify you of important updates.

Bottom-lineNo app should not run in the background unless you have specifically asked it to and need its functionality all the time.

Simple solution

Add an option into the app to allow the user to select if the app should auto-start with the device / run in background.

If this option is disabled the app should not be started until manually started.

If this option is disabled and the user then closes the app manually then the app should actually close and not continue to run in the background.

i could agree with this the flexibility to have it work both ways would be nice. in a utopia, base it upon location, if the mobile leave the WiFi network then the software would then auto enable. just my two cents.

There is an app called IF (was IF THIS THEN THAT).  Currently I have my phone set so that IF I leave home, my Wifi turns off.  When I return home, my wifi comes back on.  It's set up to act on location.  But you can set up scenarios for just about any condition and action.
