Using the Ring Central mobile app (iOS or Android app - not RC meetings or desktop app), is there a way to transfer a caller directly into a staff members voicemail? We would like the ability to bypass our typical warm transfer while using the app.
Please advise. (Fingers crossed there is a solution!)

We could also highly benefit from transferring directly to voicemail from the mobile app. Hope it will be added soon!

Hello Everyone,
I've flipped this to a feature request for other members to vote on :)

I worked around this limitation by creating a virtual user for each person and removing all devices in the call handling setup, all calls to that extension go directly to VM. Now just set the message recipient as the user whose VM you want to hit, kind of convoluted but it works.

Trying to wrap my head around this... So, when you transfer any calls on mobile app to one person they automatically go to voicemail? Or, could you explain in more detail how you set it up stepby step, please? I would really appreciate it!

Hey Jeremy, my client had a need to transfer calls directly to VM from the RC mobile app. Since it is not a feature, I came up with a creative workaround (for some reason my previous post got posted under one of my other RC accounts)
Steps outlined below:
Good luck!
Steps outlined below:
- Create a virtual user (user without a phone) for each person who you need to have the feature for.
- Assign a name to the User (something like John VM Direct or whatever suits your needs. Give it a fake email address.)
- Mark all phones & desktop / mobile apps as Inactive for that virtual user in Call Handling
- Go to Messages & Notifications, change the Message Recipient extension to the corresponding "real" user who should be getting the VM's
- Go to Settings & edit the Notifications to update the email address to be the actual email address of the real user.
Good luck!

To add to Paul's wonderful suggestion: It's a good idea to remove the 'virtual' extension from the spell-by-name directory. Also, you can always download the user's VM greeting and upload it to the Virtual extension (since user's tend to forget to record the virtual greeting). Lastly, creating a template for this type of extension saves mucho time. Been there - done that!

Thanks for the additional thoughts Danno, downloading the user's VM greeting was something I did after i posted this. To add a little more, one user was using the default greeting so there was nothing to download, for that user i went and changed the user's greeting name to a text-to-speech name and made the necessary adjustment there. I had also considered the dial by name directory but when i checked, the new extensions were excluded by default. Not sure if that is something in the way this particular client is configured or if it is because the extensions have not been activated, either way, good point well made!

Looking to add them now - each person will cost $4.99 to add this feature? Thanks for all the help!

No, they are no charge - so long as they don't forward to an outside number.

Virtual extensions are free (at least on my plan...) the only time i get charged $4.99 is if i am adding an additional phone number, which you don't need to do here. Follow this...login as adminclick Usersclick Add UsersNextChoose Add Users without Phoneschoose number of users you want to add, click Add (do not select a state and / or area code)Total / sub total should read $0.00click NextThat't it. your extensions will be listed under Unassigned Extensions.
