Multiple users logged in to the same extension need to dial out with direct dial (not RingOut)

In our company we like to have one main number that receives calls and multiple people answering the phone at that extension. In addition, we get all SMS to the same phone number. As such multiple users are logged in to the same extension so they can all see those text messages coming in. They would like to be able to dial out while logged in to that extension as well without it defaulting to RingOut.

Hi Wes, in order to not use the Ring-out feature, you will have to have a paid digital line per user.  IN that case you could have full functionality

Does that help?

We do have one paid digital line per user. They all need to be logged in to the same extension (x103) on the desktop app so that they can see the incoming SMS. Our hope is that we can use those digital lines to dial out (not RingOut) while all 8 users are logged into the same extension x103. Is that possible Chuck?

No, the system will not work that way.  Otherwise, every company would only need 1 line.  LOL

So the Ring out is what is available

So the answer is no,

Sorry about that

Thanks Chuck. We actually found a work around that DOES involve each user paying for their own line (or maybe we just figured out the correct way to use it). Here is our solution:

- Deauthorize the computers by going to Phone System --> Phones & Devices
- Log out on your softphone (desktop app) on each extension
- Log in to your desktop app as your personal extension. Once logged in, check the phone icon which should now show 'Dial Pad.' This can take up to one minute to show (but no longer)
- Now your computer is registered. Log out and log back in to any extension and you should still have the dial pad

It appears that any company can use this technique to achieve the result that we were looking for and others might want as well. It also does not circumvent any revenue that RingCentral is owed since each user is paying for a line.

Side note- I personally feel that the software should be written better to account for this situation. Can you imagine if you went to watch Netflix or similar on a different device and couldn't, only to do a ton of research and realize later that you have to log in to Netflix.com to deauthorize a computer so that the new one could be added??? But until that is addressed, this seems like the best solution.

I'm going to have to try this.  We field leads as a team from different shifts.  Sometimes we are on at the same time and sometimes we are not.  But we all want to see the history of the text messages and calls for each number we interact with.
