Polycom short code to turn on call forwarding on phones

We have the VVX 500 and need to be able to turn on call forwarding from the phone as well as the web browser.

Thank you Mike for your reply.  My goal is not to cripple RingCentral or hinder the community. After all, we are all the community, and we want RingCentral to remain vibrant. We realize that the Technicians have put in thousands of hours over the years toward making these communities and forums excellent. I thank you for the time you take and just thought this person, and the three-(3) others that chimed in, might like to have their question answered by a technician.

This is a much needed feature for us.

We just switched from a Nortel system where you could hit *4 and then the 10 digit number and press OK.

With this system, you have to open the website. log in. navigate to call handling. enter the cell number, since it disappears after each time you turn it off and hit save, instead of leaving it in and just being turned off. Don't forget to hit Save on that screen.

Way too much work for stubborn, and older employees. To be fair, it's not a very efficient way to do it even for the young spry employees who are down with technology. Please add Call Forward functionality! While it is enabled that way, it would have to grey out the typical Call Handling section with a message saying "Call Forwarding is enabled. To manage Call Handling settings, it must be disabled. Would you like to disable Call Forwarding now?" and if you agree, it disables and you can again manage your call handling the way we do today.

If you log into your Voicemail and go through option 2, there is an option there to enable Follow Me Forwarding, and when you put in a 10 digit number it says it couldn't be enabled. Even having this functionality working would be much better than using the website/app each time.

This is just 1 in the list of many shortcomings. This seems like such a no-brainer, and possibly a deal breaker for my customer.

This would have been a deal breaker for us had I been aware of this shortcoming prior to purchasing and implementing the RC phones and system. Enabling call forwarding from a desk phone using 72# or *72 is such a basic industry standard that it never occurred to me that RC would not have it. I am sticking with RC for now because you have assured me this basic feature is in development. What is the status of implementation?

2018-06-25 Amazing statement there. To allow something as obscure as lack of a shortcode for forwarding/un-forwarding to block a full service VOIP plan purchase is a bit extreme. Rather than leading your Community post with inaccurate information, It is a POTS standard, that much is accurate.

In case you want to learn about industry standards for VOIP and perhaps a little bit of market sector intelligence on who is leading in what areas of VOIP development, read a few of Gartner's magic quadrant reports.

Forwarding and Unforwarding is already available on Polycom phones on the touchscreen. What different is it to you if it is a single button toggle versus a short code keystroke combination?

You can contact your account rep to have it activated. It cannot be done from your admin panel. For some reason it is a feature they have to activate on the back end, but there is no cost as far as I am aware.
