Would like shared company address book for all RC phones

Would love to be able to share address book entries to all phones in our company.
In the Desktop App currently there is a "Company" Address book that only includes our phones, and a "personal" address book where all entries are stored.

Would like to add a "Shared Company" address book where personal address books could be moved to so our client contacts and info could be shared across our org.

We are working around this right now by having one user keep up with adding all entries and then they export the address book and everyone then imports this exported address book monthly into their apps but this is cumbersome.

Hi this has been asked for but there is a solution.  Just use the virt extensions.  I do this for my customers all the time.

I would be happy to share with you

Chuck appreciate your answer and a very clever workaround but its still a workaround.

Is there anywhere you can put in a feature request to Ringcentral?

Stephen,

These forums are really the only place you can put in a feature request to RingCentral. We're told that the Product Development teams read these and take note of them. If you haven't already, voting for the feature in the upper right hand corner of the page, is one of the criteria the Product Development teams allegedly look at as well.

Thanks, I have done, they should take a look at Microsoft and its Office365 stack, they handle feature requests quite well.

At least then you know someone will definitely read it!

I should hear back today.  I was escalated to my Chanel support manager and she asked for 48 hours to get me a good answer.

I think I explained the situation well to her, soon as I hear I will post

Thanks

hey Guys, just an update.  According to support, if you have a paid digital line and we setup a virt extension that will dial out to an external number (Speed dial) then there will be no extra charge.  because it is just an outbound call from a paid line.

This should help the company wide speed dial situation but not solve virt extension issues for other people.

Let me know how I could help you get these setup if need.

Thanks

Chuck

I suggest adding this feature in future updates instead of creating virtual extensions.

Add my vote too.  I am having to try to research third party options but RingCentral has everything else...

There is a way to do this now.  See above in this thread.  I set this up for my customers and works well

There should be a better way than creating virtual extensions. It's a hassle if you have hundreds of contacts that you want to add as a global address book. Also, RingCentral charges on virtual lines as a digital line if it reaches a certain amount of usage.

There is a template that your account rep could help with a mass upload and activation.  If you wish to use these as speed dials and the call originates from a paid digital line then there is no charge.

If that is the way you wish to use these.

This topic has been talked about for a long time and this has been the solution until something better comes along.

It does work.... and once setup it is available to everyone.

Thanks

Any news from an offical RingCentral employee if this feature has been considered, and if so is their an intention to provide a company phone book?

Hey Stephen, I haven't received any type of ETA of if/when this feature may become available.

The problem with virtual extensions is you can't use toll-free numbers. We partner with another company to help answer our phones and transfer to them all the time. They don't have a local number, so we can't set them up as a speed dial.
